I actually had to throw up because I heard my DH having a poo. Didn't smell it, just heard plopping. Thankfully we have a separate toilet, so could go in bathroom to yak in the sink!

This stuck me as completely ridiculous--anyone else get triggered by something that seemed so daft?

(Please indulge me, I'm trying to see the funny side!)

oh forgot about Flora Light. The look, the smell, the taste, all send me running. Never was thought there was much difference between margarine and butter, but now can only have real butter.

the bit in 'storymakers' when its a blue cow story... esp the bit where the bus spins round!! I just couldn't watch it!!
also the smell of an own brand margarine spread my DH bought, I had to chuck the whole thing out as it made me wretch every time I opened the fridge. back to bertoli and it was ok

smallone · 11/03/2009 20:34

DH's farts
DH's deodorant
DH breathing on me in bed
Coughing
DD's potty, and hearing it being emptied
Can't look or smell in the fridge
Talking and thinking about food
Morrisons (weirdly am ok with other supermarkets)
Margarine
Cleaning my teeth

RachieW · 11/03/2009 21:16

The smell of Ariel washing powder. Had to stop using it and rewash my clothes in Persil. It still makes me feel ill now and I had my ds in October!

hobnob57 · 11/03/2009 22:56

DH turning over in bed (like sea sickness)

gliding lesson (that was a stunning 4hours of boking during and after that one)

the merest whiff of thai red curry

getting out of bed with my eyes open (needed to keep them closed until upright)

minouminou · 11/03/2009 23:43

Cold washing up water and having to pull the plug out.....had this with DS nearly 3 years ago, and it never left me. Got stronger again this pregnancy.....hoping it'll fade eventually.
Always ask DP to do it, or it has to wait.

minouminou · 11/03/2009 23:49

Oh, and there's been a red onion left outside in someone's garden nearby for weeks and weeks - it looks intact from the outside, but just imagining the inside after several weeks of freezing/thawing/warmish temps............
Oh god............35 weeks and this has just got me gipping
That's a great expression, gipping....not heard it in yonks.

ILovePudding · 12/03/2009 04:26

Fridge. Milk. Bread cooked in my bread machine. Fat on meat. Broccoli. Brushing teeth. Coughing

DH bought chicken livers for the cat. He kept saying the word to wind me up. Liver. Bleuuugh.

Came on Mumsnet to take my mind off feeling sick - now i feel even worse, ha ha!

oopsRonanOGarascoconuts · 12/03/2009 07:48

We were on holiday in South Africa and we washed out washing in a washing powder called OMO I couldn't wear anything that had been wased in it - I washed everything in plain old water for the whole trip. When we came home I had to re wash everything even things that had been touched by clothes washed in it!

Also the sound of DH brushing his teeth.

GuernseyCow · 12/03/2009 20:29

And I thought my triggers were weird - this is so reassuring! Have lived on cheddar cheese and cream crackers for the past six weeks as all food and drink (even water) makes me gag, but the other big problems were: smelly ovens and microwave - even opening the door would make me retch; my toddler's food-stained clothes; garlic on anyone's breath or skin, lilies and any strong-smelling flowers, and worst of all, burnt toast. I've even taken to carrying a lemon around as sniffing this is the only way to stop an attack. Please let it be over soon!

JRocks · 13/03/2009 20:26

Wax Jackets - oh god the musty stench... Also trying to talk about throwing up makes me retch.

In my first pregnancy DP farted in the car - I actually pulled over and threw up on the pavement (nice).

Weirdly if I yawn for too long I start gagging.

erhianj · 21/03/2009 18:43

Just found this thread - my biggest trigger is DH deoderant, but cannot stand potato waffles, tinned soups, fridge smell,soap... list is very long but the weirdest is DH mobile phone alarm going off in the morning,no matter what tune he puts on it!!

Laugs · 23/03/2009 09:18

I am finding the thought of preparing food very sickening. It doesn't have to be raw meat, just the idea of having to chop vegetables or anything. Eating it is fine though! I normally like cooking but I'm rapidly running out of food I can make. Every evening I just stand in the kitchen and stare into the cupboards/ fridge and feel sick.

BeckyBendyLegs · 23/03/2009 10:36

This thread has cheered me up! So funny! For me, it is as my DSs say 'clean daddies' (ie DH's deodorant). Stinky. And the inside of the car too. Yuck.

orangehead · 23/03/2009 10:40

The smell of black bin bags, infact it has become sort of a pregnancy test for me if ever I am late I smell a black bag to check (it started very early with all 5 pregnancies). The thought of any vegatables.

TheDevilWearsPrimark · 23/03/2009 10:42

The toilet flushing. Highly incovenient as I'd finish being sick, flush then have to start again until I was a wretched heap with nothing left in me to come out.

insertwittynicknameHERE · 23/03/2009 10:43

When I was pg with DD, certain sounds (level of sounds) used to make me throw up. DH couldn't have any music on in the car or at home if I was there as I would have to throw up lol.

This pg I feel constantly queasy but I have only actually been sick twice.

trellism · 17/05/2009 23:14

Marks and Spencer. I can't go into M&S any more. It's odd because my morning sickness hasn't been too bad, but the closest I have come to spewing has been in my local M&S, usually by the shoe display.

Nobody believes me.

amaliesmor · 18/05/2009 07:23

When I was preggers with DD we found out just before going on a driving hol through Holland. We had to cut the holiday short cause I was on the verge of hurling the whole time. After that I could not hear the word Holland without wanting to instantaneously spew!

This time around (am 35 weeks) My DD was put in front of endless rounds of In The Night Garden in the early stages of my pregnancy and subsequently I became sensitive to the screeches of Iggle, Upsy and Makka pakka aswell as the awful tune. It is currently banned from the house - even writing this brings on waves.

I also hate the smell of my car and the idea of a certain mother and tots group I dragged myself to in the early days makes me turn to jelly.

scratchet · 18/05/2009 10:40

i can't stand the smell of my DH, especially when he gets home from work! The smell of cigarettes does it too. Was the same when pregnant with DD, when pregnant with DS it was the smell, thought, anyone talking about or eating mcdonalds!

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 18/05/2009 10:49

DH done a really loud ripper of a burp, like the one after a fizzy drink, and it had me running to the bathroom for a vomit or two.

Tinned cat food isn't good at the best of times, but I couldn't even stand the faintest whiff of it when pg. Infact it makes my stomach lurch even now.

MiniLlace · 18/05/2009 13:10

the smell of foxes - last week on the way to work i smelt them and then promptly threw up on the pavement - THANK GOODNESS noone was around - how nasty!!! ... also salmon - cant taste it , cant smell it, cant even look at it!!

Baisey · 18/05/2009 14:40

People asking if im still suffering "morning" sickness. They usually get the answer after I have returned from the bathroom. "No, no im feeling absolutely fine now..."
