I actually had to throw up because I heard my DH having a poo. Didn't smell it, just heard plopping. Thankfully we have a separate toilet, so could go in bathroom to yak in the sink!

This stuck me as completely ridiculous--anyone else get triggered by something that seemed so daft?

(Please indulge me, I'm trying to see the funny side!)

Tesco was torture on a whole new level Just thinking about having to go food shopping had me in tears!

Also I could smell booze on anyone who had even looked at a glass of wine the night before That one really helped me not drink any wine when PG

Sneezing/blowing my nose/coughing = me running for the loo.

The worst was being at work and walking past the factory entrance - they made a southern fried chicken thing at the time and I still despise the stuff now.

frazzledoldbag · 10/03/2009 13:42

oooh yes, and I remember in the supermarket with DD1 thinking I could actually smell the food from the tins in the aisle with the sweetcorn and tomatoes etc I had to run to the bottled water aisle and stand and stare intensely at the bottles while DH got the rest of the shopping in cos I was scared to move in case I saw/smelt anything else. As for the meat, cheese, fish aisles there was no way I could go near.

Thandeka · 10/03/2009 13:44

Yesterday DH farted- I nearly hurled!

mondaymonday · 10/03/2009 13:46

walking past Pizza Hut or Subway - bleurgh! Used to make me want to hurl

bananapaddlepop · 10/03/2009 13:48

The tube - every morning I had to get the tube 2 stops and I would quite regularly have to throw up on Regent St when I got off. People thought I was a drunken tramp. Nice!

Rindercella · 10/03/2009 13:48

The smell of chewing gum. Had to make DH stop using it (disgusting habit anyway). Think it would make me hurl even now tbh.

flippineck · 10/03/2009 13:50

Rainbowdays - I'm so glad you said about the smell of the car, me too! I get travel sickness anyway, pregnancy has made it worse, and it's really not helped at all by the fact that our car is relatively new and still smells like new car.even at nearly 32 weeks I feel sick just thinking about having to go in the car and have been walking ridiculous distances to avoid it.

EsmeWeatherwax · 10/03/2009 14:05

Frazzled, you have reminded me of a James Martin cookery programme that I swear started my morning sickness off in my first pregnancy! He was cooking a lamb leg and had pricked it all over with lavendar. I swear I started vomiting that very day, and was still vomiting on the day I gave birth.

DevilsAdvocaat · 10/03/2009 14:06

talking about pizza set me off with my last pg.

this time round, well i almost vommed after reading 'plopping' on the op

UnrealisticExpectations · 10/03/2009 14:21

Many of the same things!

I couldn't bear clearing leftovers! Also that ad was on the tv during my second preg, where she carries the handbag full of food round. Is it for a laxative or something? I'd be straight up and off!

Thanks for that, Mr Ad Man. I still think it's unbelievably gross now.

Sugarkane · 10/03/2009 14:28

Ok mine was and is when my DP has bread and butter and leaves teeth marks in the butter, that sets me off right away, along with brushing my teeth and coughing.

Sugarkane · 10/03/2009 14:30

oh maybe I should have explained more I meant teeth marks in the butter that is on the bread not in the block of butter LOL

sarah76 · 10/03/2009 14:34

Sorry Devilsadvocaat!

Thank you so much everyone, I don't feel like such a weirdo anymore. Very much enjoying reading all the strange triggers!

Thandeka, if your DH's trumps are as toxic as my DH's, it is not ridiculous to vomit

Taking a shower without fail every morning, brushing teeth, oh and I couldn't use the PC for about 8 weeks. Even the thought of using it would make me shakey and nauseous.

HappyTangerine · 10/03/2009 14:41

Dirty clothes especially socks and dishes that have been left to soak-ughh, the smell of the water.

Smell of diesel caused huge problems a few weeks ago, I was ill whenever I filled up the car. Now changed to petrol-v good timing to get a new car. At the moment, the worst things are coughing and the smell of fish, toast or asparagus.

NorbertDentressangle · 10/03/2009 14:45

Fridges.

I used to hate having to open them -the combination of smells that would hit me when I opened the door was too much.

It could be anyones fridge, even the one at work that just had milk and the occasional Tupperware sandwich box in.

Beantin · 10/03/2009 14:52

Risotto - made with anything and fresh fish. Someone at work had vinegar on chips and I had to leave the immediate area quickly!!

deanychip · 10/03/2009 14:53

The word "breakfast" i just had to see it written or hear it and i would gip and vom 4 fun.

DebInAustria · 10/03/2009 15:07

getting out of bed

opening the fridge

the kitchen sink

etc...

charliegal · 10/03/2009 15:12

This thread. Only got past the op.
Thanks for that.

anchovies · 10/03/2009 15:14

Mine was fridges too, in all 3 pregnancies. My poor dh spent about 10 weeks cleaning the fridge out. There was nothing specifically in the fridge that would smell but I can remember being able to smell the door being opened even from upstairs!

FiveGoMadInDorset · 10/03/2009 15:16

Walking

McSnail · 10/03/2009 17:47

Someone mentioned Clarins products - me too! Which is a shame because it's so expensive and I still can't use it even though the nausea's subsided (I'm eighteen weeks)
Also, brushing teeth (brushing my tongue was out of the question)
The worst thing though, was when I bought one of those hideous Glade scented 'glow lamps' (WHY?) and the concentrated perfume leaked out onto our kitchen table and a pile of clean washing. For WEEKS after, the whole house stank and there was no escape. It made me wish I was dead.

singsong · 10/03/2009 20:45

The smell of beer. DH went for a drink after work one night and had to sleep on the sofa because he?d had a beer.
