Lack of bladder control after childbirth which they say will probably continue for the rest of my life.

Pelvic floor exercises which I always forgot hence the symptom I now have.

mum2toby · 10/04/2003 14:23

Meanmum... I have the odd 'accident' if I sneeze or cough without adjusting my position first!

I think I'll start a thread about that....

Random peeing - both baby and me (sometimes tempted to fix nappies on both of us)

NO SLEEP. Consequent progression into demented fuzzy haired tiny eyed monster with no sense of humour and serious Twix addiction.

Mastitis. And it says something for the sleep deprivation that it took me two months (yes ladies, two months) to figure out that I felt like cr*p because I had an infection, as well as no sleep

zebra · 11/04/2003 18:35

Life without pushchairs would be a grand thing, indeed.

grommit · 11/04/2003 18:55

Portobello1 - if the test had a positive result then it is likely you are pregant. I would suggest you do another test just to be sure and if this is positive book an appointment with your GP. Good Luck! Let us know how you get on.

Eulalia · 11/04/2003 19:36

Sorry but I have to ask - what are afterpains?

jac34 · 11/04/2003 20:27

....because I have a one in five chance, of having another set of twins !!!!!

tigermoth · 11/04/2003 20:29

At my age, I would risk going straight from pregnancy to the menopause - hormone hell or what!

griffy · 11/04/2003 21:36

Ooh - I remember now (how could I forget); insomnia from 20 weeks because of chronic restless leg syndrome - did anyone else get this? The only thing that stopped it at night (for about 20-30 mins at a time) was a REALLY hot bath. By 37 weeks, I was having 6 hot baths during the night every night. Is that mad or what?

And I was working full-time up to 3 days before he was born. Was I knackered.....

Tortington · 12/04/2003 01:02

jac - that was my main reason too - i had one child - then twins - i knew i would have triplets if i went on.

cant believe no one has said " i will not get pregnant again becuase..."
... you get a baby at the end! ewww

other factors apart from the baby itself:
hubby taking up a job working nights after you give birth to twins (v. convenient)

everyone saying " arnt they lovley" but not offering to help

cabbage in my bra

the expense

the poverty

the brain numbingness of being at home ( own opinion obviously!)

lack of freedom

prams on buses

nasty old people

everyone saying " it only gets worse as they get older enjoy it while you can" and you thinking how the hell does it get worse than this

but it does!

oxocube · 12/04/2003 12:01

Eulalia, afterpains are pains a bit like really bad period pain which you get after giving birth. They are stronger after each successive birth (why? Mears?) and seemed to be worse when breastfeeding. Mine only lasted about 2 days but it was really uncomfortable esp after last pregnancy.

lou33 · 12/04/2003 13:59

The afterpains after my fourth were exactly like labour all over again.

Eulalia · 13/04/2003 20:45

Thanks oxocube - I've got 2 children but had no pains in that area afterwards. I was told that my uterus shrunk quickly both times too. I guess I must be lucky in that respect.

Sorry I've not contributed anything in particular to this thread.

Oh yes except maybe to say to you custardo that twins do get easier as they get older. I am one and we used to play together for hours without the need of our parents.

creamcake · 10/09/2004 12:19

Hi there,

Can any mums pls tell me if it is true you end up pooing yourself during labour? I am planning to try for a baby after xmas and would like to know the nitty gritty truth of what I am letting myself in for!!

MummyToSteven · 10/09/2004 12:23

creamcake - its common but not inevitable (think I have read it happens to half of women). It gets cleaned up straightaway, and you are far far too busy pushing out a baby to be bothered by it!

moomina · 10/09/2004 12:23

Yes. But it's the last thing you'll be thinking about...

beansprout · 10/09/2004 12:38

Haven't done this yet, but will soon and was at the "birth" class last night. The word "poo" was used more than any other and we were told that if we were worried about it... to get over it, as it is highly likely to happen! Nice!!

coddychops · 10/09/2004 12:42

my god cant bel;ieve this!
thi s was one of my first ever threads
and its int he book!

MummyToSteven · 10/09/2004 12:44

coddychops - will have to check for dodgy typing to try and id you - assume you were under a non-fish related name in those days

Lonelymum · 10/09/2004 13:10

Creamcake -I've had four children and I don't think it happened to me once - honestly the midwife wouldn't tell you if you had and I don't think you'd be likely to notice. I did wee when pushing one of mine out. I wasn't bothered, the midwife wouldn't have said anything, but dh was concerned enough to comment! Just like men!
Good luck trying!
