Positive pregnancy test Friday - bleeding today - what does this mean?

Hi,

I accidently took a couple of my pills late last month. My period was about a week late so I took 2 pregnancy tests on Friday and another 2 on Saturday (just to be sure!!!!), all showed as positive.

Although unplanned, after the initial suprise both myself and DP were happy. However yesterday I had some spotting (dark red colour) and this morning theres more (bright red). Its not so much as bleeding but more a bloody discharge. Does this mean I've miscarried?

Not necessarily. Lots of MNers (myself included) had early bleeding but successful pregnancies. I think it can be implantation bleeding at this stage.

Oh thank you Soup Dragon, that gives me hope. How will I know for sure?

I have 2 DC and both pregnancies were straight forward so I haven't heard of implantation bleeding before.

If I had m/c would another pregnancy test show as negative now?

It wouldn't show as negative right now, even after you have 'passed' everything, it can still take a while for your HCG levels to go back to what they were pre-pregnancy. I had to take a test a week after I had medical management for a miscarriage in 2006, and that came up positive. A few days later, it was negative.

It doesn't sound like a miscarriage, but obviously if the bleeding gets heavier and stays bright red, you pass clots, get cramps - then give your EPU a call. Oh, and take it easy!

With both my sons I bleed for a week similar to a period at 6 weeks, also spotted at several points during both pregs, and both of them were fine. Hope everything ok

I'll also add that I bled at 6 weeks with this pregnancy, was very sudden, quite a lot, and I dropped to my knees with cramps. Thought it was AF starting and went to work as usual. It got lighter as the night went on, and that's when it clicked. Took a test the next day, positive, had an internal examination/scan at the EPU, and saw our baby with a heartbeat at 6+1 weeks. I'm now 21 weeks and our baby girl is perfectly healthy

I got a positive test on monday with a clear blue digital and also a very faint but positive with a tesco own brand. Period was due on tuesday but nothing by last night (FRiday) so we were so excited as this was our 2nd pregnancy, last time i miscarried at 12 weeks. So this morning i did a tesco test it was negative and i had dark brown bleeding quite heavy but now it has stopped???? Is it possible I have miscarried in a week?

im also thinking implantation blled, one of my friends recently who is about 11 weeks now had bleeding (she thought she was about 12 weeks) epu sent her for a scan and she was only 6 weeks n baby was fine...they said implantation bleed.

myself had 2 m/cs in 2007 one at 11+5 weeks (was horrendous) and onwe at 6 weeks (which was just like a heavy period but with cramping) i was told to do tests 3 or 4 weeks after when i bled at 6 weeks cos they didnt bother scanning me. obv it was negative, at the 11 week one they scanned me and saw it was over...which i knew anyway cos had passed everything (will always remember that)!

im now 15 weeks pg with dc2 have ds 3 years! im really paranoid and every twinge i start to panic!
