HCG levels

Hi went for an early scan yesterday morning as i had been having bleeding and had passed a clot, the lady that scanned me said that she couldnt see anythin on the scan and believed that i had had a complete miscarriage, afterwards i was told i had to speak to the doctor before i was allowed home, the doctor wanted to blood to check my hcg levels to confirm what the scan had said

Now i received my results last night and the lady said they were very low at 22 and that for pregnancy they look for between 10-1000 and although mine were very low at 22 they need to do repeat bloods in 48hrs (2moz) to check whether my hcg levels are rising or falling

Now if i had had a m/c then my hcg levels should have fallen further from yesterday morning til now surely? but i did i did a first response test this evening (now they say their tests need hcg levels of at least 25 to get a positive) but i got a faint positive now if my levels were still 22 or lower (which they should have by now) surely i wouldnt have been able to get a positive test result? so could this mean my levels are rising?

Has anyone else had low HCG levels and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy and baby? Thanks for taking time to read this xxx

I went for a 5/6 week scan with last baby was told couldn't see anything on scan.
They tested my blood levels and I was told they wern't rising much and that they had never seen a successful pregnancy with such low levels, That I had lost the baby.
They re-scanned me a week later to confirm and there was my 6 week baby complete with heartbeat. The pregnancy went fine.
It's still all a mystery to me now!

It is possible your dates are wrong and you are not as far as you think you are? Obviously if your hcg are rising that is a good sign. However sometimes the level can stay the same for a few days if you have only just mc before they drop. I dont know how accurate first response 25 is, it may just be a guide and they pick up around 25. But I have heard of a few people like mumface who have had low hcg and had healthy babies.
Hope all goes ok. I have been there several times with the 48 hrs hcg tests and I know it is horrible waiting and I know you are desperate for an answer. Thinking of you

Do you get your results tonight?

my hcg leval at 9+4 with dd was 18

i went to the docs without having done a HPT as i was so sure i was pregnant (had all the symptoms). doc did a test and it was -ive so he sent me to the hospital as if i wasn't preg there was something else wrong

they did a blood test, urine test and internal exam and said i'd definitely been preg but i'd miscarried and sent me for a scan to see if i needed a d&c.... and found dd in there perfectly healthy!

rest of the pregnancy was totally normal, no other complications.

with ds1 i got a very faint +ive with a first response test at what later turned out to be about 10/12 weeks... so again my levals weren't as high as they should have been.

ds2 however i got a whacking great big +ive at 5 weeks so obviously my body learned what to do in the end!

good luck, hope it's good news for you.
