Anyone had steroids to mature baby's lungs? - side effects?

Hi everyone

I'm 24 weeks on Thursday and seeing my consultant on fri. At my last appointment he suggested that we consider having steroids to mature the baby's lungs at 24 weeks just incase I go into premature labour.
My questions are:
Is there any side effects of these injections?
When is the optimum time to take them?
Is there anything I should know?

My history is that I had a premature baby at 24 weeks and I had the injections then, but because my waters had ruptured. Our son then died neo-natal. I also have suffered m/c so on hepirin & aspirin and I was on steroids and progesterone. So think the consultant is being extra careful. He has been checking my cervix too and it's still long at 3.25 from external scanning. Have appointment on Friday so all opinions welcome - thanks girls xxxx

How is your kid now. I had steroid injection at 23 week and now am 30w, baby is still cooking inside me. But recent studies shows thsr, that steroids may be adhd or low iq to the kids when they reach school. So just wanted to understand.

@Deepadev77 I had steroids and no problems with my now 4 year old at all. I had mine at 36 weeks though and it didn’t even work so discussed with my consultant this time round that I won’t be having them again but purely because recent research shows that they don’t work well for those after 34 weeks.

My daughter is aged 23 now. When I researched it. Steroids during pregnancy could cause learning difficulties. She was diagnosed with Autism at aged 20. Schools didn't pick it up. She has PSOS, and other problems

I had 2 Steroid Injections for the maturity of my daughters lungs before birth. As a 20 year old she suffers from Autism, Anxiety and Depression and Stress. Her Autism was only diagnosed 18 months ago. And not picked up in any schools. She also has lots of body hair. And has been told she has Polycystic ovary syndrome although no actual cysts on her ovaries. And has never had a proper monthly period. She feels like a freak of nature. And feels like she should have been born a boy. She also has unique joints of her fingers and toes. Like a major swan neck deformity in all her fingers. And her toes have bendy joints. I'm wondering if all this could have been caused by the Steroid Injections.
