Started with a very surprising vomiting session at 6 weeks (hadn't felt nauseous or anything!). Felt increasingly nauseous as time went on, but the vomiting was usually only once a week.

Everyone kept saying, 'oh, it will get better!' and I read lots of stories of women whose MS just magically disappeared overnight right at the second trimester.

For me, it's only gotten worse as time passes. Now at 15 weeks, I feel nauseous all day every day. The vomiting increased to 2-3 times a week for a while, and now I've yakked nearly every day in the last week, sometimes multiple times a day.

Just wondering if anyone has had a 'storm before the calm' (to remix the phrase)?

with my first pregnancy I started being sick at 10 weeks once a week and then it went up to every day before finishing at 18 weeks.

This time I started being sick every day at 9 weeks until about 24 weeks when it went down to every couple of days and tailed off eventually at 36 weeks (I hope, I am 38+4 and haven't been sick since 36 weeks exactly !).

ooh, hello s! sorry to see this is you! anyone told you it must be a boy then, yet? all this nausea. one of my fave old wives tales, as it makes it seem that we must be allergic to boys

ducks and covers from enraged sickly person<

sorry it's getting worse, is my sensible contribution.

Hawkmoth · 03/03/2009 13:44

I'm allergic to boys!

I started throwing up about 11.5 weeks this time, and six weeks later it's not getting any better. Felt like crap before that, but no actual vomiting.

With DD1 was just sick in morning, couple of times a day from 6 weeks to 16 weeks. I could handle that, I was always fine straight away afterwards.

My sickness is definitely connected to hunger and low blood sugar, but I find it difficult to force myself to eat when I feel sick.

Sorry - but also found it got worse before better! Started with once a day sickness at 6 weeks, reached a vomiting record around 21-25 weeks, 6 times a day and then improved to down to twice a week now at 32 weeks.

Also having another DS - only a man can make you this sick!

iwantitnow · 03/03/2009 14:23

Still being sick at 37 weeks I'm afraid had two weeks around 34 weeks when I wasn't sick or felt like retching every day but its back. Its a boy.

wasabipeanut · 03/03/2009 14:25

It should start to fade soon - mine seemed to peak at about 12-15 weeks - all the "it fades after 10 weeks" was rubbish in my case!

However by about 16-17 weeks it had completely gone! I do remember how miserable it was - hang in and one day you'll realise that actually you can walk to the bathroom without puking.

Sycamoretree · 03/03/2009 14:44

You poor thing, I TOTALLY sympathise. I was sick as a dog with both mine - the main reason I won't be having another.

The good news is, you are nearly out of the woods. Mine cleared up around 17 and 18 weeks respectively.

Hopefully you will notice it start to fade in a couple of weeks time - hang on in there.

The only thing that helped me were those preggypops drops.

Ginger made me vom more.

Chinese herbal rememdy didn't see the inside of my stomach for more than, erm, 3 seconds.

In a few rare cases, like IWANTITNOW (heart bleeding for you here) it can last all pregnancy

chaya5738 · 03/03/2009 18:12

Yip, I had only nausea (no vomiting) from weeks 7-9. Then the odd bit of vomiting at 9-12 weeks. The felt GREAT until week 13/14. Then uncontrollable vomiting every morning from weeks 14-16. It didn't ease off until week 16 and now I feel fantastic.

Hope you get better soon..

MrsMattie · 03/03/2009 18:15

Mine was at it's very worst between 1016 weeks, then tailed off and went completely by 20 weeks.

MrsMattie · 03/03/2009 18:15

10-16 wks, sorry

StealthPolarBear · 03/03/2009 18:17

Mine was bad up to 16 weeks (vomiting almost every day) went away for about 2 weeks then returned until it went completely at 20 weeks. So IME you are nearing the end for ms!

sarah76 · 04/03/2009 08:37

Thanks everyone, it is good to hear that for some it got worse going into the second trimester! Gives me a bit of hope that it will end. My aunt (dad's sister) said her and my paternal grandmother were sick throughout their pregnancies (grandma had 8!!!), so this is one time I'm really hoping I don't take after that side of the family.

GP gave me cyclizine but I can't say it's helping--seems to make me sleepy. I know I'm supposed to eat something when I wake up, but that seems to make me feel worse. I can't keep anything down unless it's after 11am and I've been up for a few hours.

Have you tried nibbling a digestive biscuit and sipping milk? This worked for me first thing in the morning with my first pregancy. I had it by my bed.

With my second pregnancy I kept a banana by my bed and if I woke up at 4am feeling I was on the verge of puking again, I would reach down without sitting up, peel it, scoff it lying down, and go back to sleep, because once I sat up, the puke was inevitable, so I got very adept at eating lying down.

Blood sugar levels really are key, but you have to find what works for you, and what, if anything, you can keep down.

sarah76 · 08/03/2009 11:04

Tried the digestive biscuit and milk thing this morning.....nope, just lost it all in the bog!

Yesterday I tried to have porridge, thinking it would be nice and bland, very inoffensive. Nope, out it came!

I am sooooooo fecking sick of this!!!!!

Yesterday I went to the cinema and had nachos. Surprisingly, they didn't make me puke...they were the most wonderful thing in the world. Thinking of going back today for more. DH says if I can think of another film I want to see, we can go. I don't think I care about a film really, but is it stupid to drive all that way for fake, processed cheese?
