Feel and look huge!

Just got home from having LOs jabs done and the nurse asked me when I was due and was very shocked when I said I had another 8 weeks to go. I am very big, although when measured a couple of weeks ago, they said I was fine for Dates so not sure. But a lOT of people say I look huge and I was never like this last time? I don't think I was even this big when DD was due, let alone 2 months before hand!

My back REALLY hurts by about 6pm and it keeps me awake during the night. I am finding it very hard to carry my DD but she can't walk so can't be avoided. I find it very hard to get any sort of housework done/bend down etc.

Is anybody else like this?

I was like that carrying my son, there was a woman due on the same day as me at ante-natal who was expecting twins and I was bigger than her .

I'm only 5ft 2" and I went from 10st 4lbs to 15 stone when i was pregnant. DS was "only" 8lbs 9oz.

To be honest, I got really fed up hearing it in the end up.

Are you working? By 37 weeks I ended up pretty much unable to walk anywhere, but I think that was due to having pre-eclampsia and all the swelling I had too.

Have you piled on the weight or are you all bump? I literally was all stomach and still am. You couldn't tell from the back that I was pregnant.

To be honest, I don't really know how much weight I have gained else where. I have put it on everywhere, but I am not sure if it was actually during this pregnancy as I had only had dd 6 months before getting pregnant again, hadn't lost the baby weight, ate loads while BF so put on loads before I got preg again!

I do have a big bump though definatly.

I am childminding and was hoping to carry on till due date (I only do it part time and not loads of kids so I don't do any more than somebody with 2-3 children of their own iyswim?).

i'm 38wks and baby (third) has only just dropped, which is common in subsequent babies and so i looked huge. my bump is all baby, pretty solid.

dc2 was a very big baby (which was a shock) and this baby could be just as big. try not to be worried by peoples throw away comments...it can get disheartening

I'm 32 weeks and also look huge. However, when my bump was measured a couple of days ago - I am 34 cms - which although a little higher - it's still within normal range.

I've already put 2 stone. But - it's all on my bump. Everyone thinks I may have lost a little weight everywhere else. I don't look pregnant from behind, but as soon as I turn around...

I am sick of people saying - 'Gosh - Isn't your bump big - are you sure there's only one in there..?'

I was also huge with dd. I ended up having growth scans and she measured quite big on scan too. However, despite being 12 days overdue, se popped out quickly weighing 7lb 12oz.

I'm hoping for a similar size this time, I really don't fancy delivering a 10 pounder....

Reesie · 27/02/2009 22:32

Also - I have a short torso. If you have a long one there is more room for baby to grow upwards. Unfortunately, my torso is really short, my bellybuton is only a short distance up from my hips and my ribs seem to start shortly from there.

Hense, my bump has to keep growing outwards!!!

MrsMattie · 28/02/2009 18:09

I was enormous with my DS. At 30 wks people were saying 'Surely you're due soon' etc. I put on 4 stone and he was
10 lbs 2 oz in the end, so they may have had a point about me being gigantic , but I did get pretty tired of hearing of 'huge' I was.

Chin up

MoshiMoshi · 28/02/2009 18:26

Don't worry about comments like that. I am currently 32 weeks and look exactly as I did with my previous pregnancies, all bump. I tend to put on about 2 stone (this is my fourth) and have put on just over a stone this time so far so probably a bit less than previously. Because I am not tall or big I think it seems much bigger than it is. When I am measured, my fundal height is about right which is what you should worry about. I am quite mobile but just recently have got really really tired! I think it might be a sign I am coming down with something though. My son is not well and I have already had two horrendous viruses! Don't panic. It won't last forever.

Marthasmama · 28/02/2009 18:27

I had the same I had a huge bump, a huge bum and HUGE boobs! With your second one your muscles are a bit rubbish. I kept moaning to the MW about being gigantic and she said not to worry as the second time you do get bigger. I too have about an inch between my ribs and my hip bones so had nowhere for my babies to go. They were up under my ribs by six months! When people ask how long, just say oh not long now. That's what I did and it's a sort of polite, I don't want to talk about it without being too obvious! My mum said I should start saying, Oh I'm not pregnant. That would shut them up!

becktay · 28/02/2009 20:59

I'm 32 weeks and when people say you're massive or something equally helpful, I just say - 'this isn't the half of it , I can get much bigger than this, you come back in a months time.' That usually shuts them up!
