Why can't I be large, tall & pregnant?

And the search for maternity clothes goes on.... Why can't large (size 18-20) & tall (5ft 10) women find decent maternity wear? I've just received an order from Blooming Marvellous & JoJo Maman Bebe & both lots of trousers / t-shirts were obviously designed for 'slim' women - I fitted in the clothes now at 15 weeks pregnant!

Can anyone help? I'm off on holiday in two weeks and would like some comfortable summer maternity clothes to wear that don't cost the earth.

Have you tried LTs - they started doing maternity clothes again just as I had my DD!! I think their sizes go up to 18-20.

LTS sizes are enormous anyway - I am a medium with them but nowhere else so you may find ordinary (non-maternity) things will fit you for a while.

I am tall and large and for most of my pregnancy clothes just bought a size larger than normal from Evans. Theit stretchy waist trousers (made of jersy, around £10) were my maternity staple and they do them in lots of different colours/patterns, and they are doing a lot of cheesecloth tunics at the moment which went over my bumps no problem, HTH.

I had the same problem. I am 5'11" and a size 22-24. BIG girl!!

I found that nowhere catered for me. I ended up making most of my clothes or buying enormous sizes (30+) from Evans.

There's a gap in the market here - someone should exploit it.

Add me to the tall and size 20-22 gang - I found some great lycra tops in Big is Beautiful at Hennes, which streched over the bunp - one tent dress and drawstrig trousers then mainly covered the rest of the time - you get completely bored of wearing the same thing but at least you're dressed - there are flowy kaftans and stuff in Evans at the moment and they also do a Tall range - so do Dorothy Prekins and a Maternity range, although I don't know how much bigger they are.

Clearly in most stores if you are over a size 18 no-one will want to impregnate you... mind you most of them don't acknowlege you anyway

Just being tall causes enough problems. I'm "only" 5ft 7 but couldn't get trousers that were both long enough AND maternity.

Monsoon ordinary stuff was pretty good - just went up a size or 2.

I'm 5'9" and about a size 22... Zoe I have to say that I LOL when I read about the lack of impregnation experienced by us larger ladies. I'm only 12 weeks and am dreading the hunt for maternity clothes. When I was pregnant with DD it was winter and it was awful. I'm hoping that as this is a summer pregnancy I can get away with big tent dresses and none of the blooming maternity tights.

George at Asda ahve just started doing maternity but I don't know what size they are going up to - their normal clothes go up to size 24 I think.

This won't help you at all I'm afraid but when I was pregnant 6 years ago I had trouble finding maternity clothes small enough to fit. I'm 5 ft tall and a size 10. Maternity clothes were just a joke for me. They were all huge, they say buy your normal pre-pregnancy size , well I did and the maternity jeans I had were held up by a belt until I was 8 months pregnant. Nothing ever looked like maternity clothes they looked like I'd got dressed from my mothers wardrobe instead.
Planning on having baby #2 now and I'm already on the look out for nice maternity clothes that may fit a bit better this time.
Sorry I didn't really help you but I just thought I'd let you know that us short people have problems with maternity clothes to.

So glad it isn't just me that is having this problem!! I'm 5'11" and between an 18 and a 22 depending on the size and unless you are pregnant in a kind of basketball up your top and no bumps anywhere else kind of way, it's so difficult!!
Next do maternity in the directory up to a size 20 and they do long lengths in their trousers.I have seen maternity stuff in Asda up to a 22.And Mothercare go up to a 20(although the stuff isn't very nice I don't think...horrid fabrics!!)
Although I have just bought a nice pair of trousers from Blooming Marvellous that fit really well in a size 18, I am disappointed in the company.Last time I was pregnant which was only 3 years ago they went up to a size 24, now they cut off at an 18. Why??

So, think I'm pg again - anyone got any big maternity clothes they wanna sell???!!!

I know this doesn't help but I had the opposite problem. I am 5ft and was size 10 pre-pregnancy. When pregnant it was a nightmare as so few places do decent petite maternity clothes, other than Next.

there is obviously some real gaps in the market here. let's hope some retailers might see!
