Sounds like it could be. Bag packed? Good luck!

MsBump · 24/02/2009 21:06

I'd say def call your midwife and check. I'm just 35 weeks and had almost exactly the same pains over sunday and yesterday to the point of exhaustion but as I'm not 'due' yet put it down to baby trying to engage head!

If I was 38 weeks I'd be thinking D day is any time soon. make the call :-) good luck

mum2b09 · 24/02/2009 21:12

oh god i was hoping for a no ull b fine hahaah im so not ready for this.. bags are packed, birth plans done but is anyone ever ready to give birth?! haha xx

Ooooooh mum2be09 sounds promising! Have a quick look at my thread "Any idea what this is ladies" (on the pregnancy board) I posted about the same shooting pains in my bits!

I would say the cramps are more promising! Have you tried to have a bath? If they still hurt after you've had a bath/ you're walking round/ you change position then it could well be baby en route!!

Is there any regularity or pattern yet?

Please keep us posted X

NB: I am on no3 and NEVER had a show with either DD & my waters were broken for me late in labour - so don't be surprised if things are happening!

PerArduaAdNauseum · 24/02/2009 21:14

Get as much sleep as you can starting now. Gets you set up for labour (and it may be your last chance for a few months days

mum2b09 · 24/02/2009 21:21

yeah i just read your thread clouiseg and there exacty like what iv been feeling but these cramps are getting stronger but have no regularity yet, Ahhh!! feeling quite nervous now..

I had a bath it didnt seem to do anyhting for the pain besides ease it a little whilst i was in the bath as soon as i got out the pains felt the same,

My bf has gone out 2 see his friends should i call him and tell him 2 come home just incase do you think?

Oooo how exciting! I'd call him and tell him, but then go and have a sleep for a while (as difficult as that may be!). Labour is nackering!

Wish you lots of luck.
Xx

Hi there, It could be the start of something, then again it might not be. The latent phase of labour can last for days, so I wouldn't be gearing myself up too much. Just go about your normal activities as if you 'go along' with the labour now, when things really kick off you may be exhausted.
I remember the sharp pains down below when baby's head was engaging! it was 2 weeks later that I gave birth.
good luck and keep us posted!

mum2b09 · 24/02/2009 21:28

Awwwww mum2b09, it is a good idea to try to get some sleep...if things are going to move on they'll soon wake you! I'd have your bags in the car ready, snacks and drinks sorted and rest for a while!

If you really can't settle and need something to do try www.contractionmaster.com. Its a good distraction, I saw it on a Childbirth thread and its saved to my favourites (just incase!)

I'm going to shoot waddle my rotund self off to bed now

I have 2 DDs & the beauty of foresight and I'm getting sleep while I can

PLEEEEAAASSSSEEE keep us posted, will check in tomorrow and hopefully you'll have posted with labour / hospital news! Sending lots of birthing vibes your way

MustHaveaVeryShortMemory · 24/02/2009 22:12

It sounds like your body is certainly preparing itself! How are things this evening

mum2b09 · 27/02/2009 23:01

hey agen girls just thouht id add to this that i STILL!! havnt gone yet iv been having these pains still and there getting worse but theres no pattern iv had some excrutiating pains today but there completely irregular and some have had hours in between but had quite constant pain in lower back so i rang the hospital midwife and she said it could be false labour or slow labour which could last for another 10-14 days !! bf has gone out i do hope its not 2nyt im all alone and terrified incase i go into labour now haha xxx

Awwww mum2b09 I've been checking in on you! Don't be disheartened, I know its VERY frustrating when your body plays havoc with you. It still sounds to me that something is going on! All the backache & pains - although irregular - are moving things along!

I was talking to my MW on Thurs, as I have had similar pains in my bits, plus a small show with LOTS of BH (a few woke me last night & I had tears in my eyes lol). She did say that the pre labour bit can last a while...the body fares much better in labour if there's been a slow build up instead of WHAM! time for baby!

If you are really uncomfortable, you can always make an appt asap with your normal MW and ask her to check your cervix to see if you're dilating at all?? They did a sweep on my sister at 39 weeks as she had started to slowly dilate. Its worth asking??

When are you officailly due? I think its around the same time as me (although I'm booked for a CS so have the opposite problem - I want mine to stay put til then!)

Keep posting on MN....if nothing else it'll pass the time for you. x

mum2b09 · 01/03/2009 17:38

Aww thanx clouiseg the pains are still coming but not regular yet im due to see my MW on wednesday so ill make sure i ask about checking my cervix its at least worth knowing whats going on down there lol!

Im due March 15th so iv got 2 weeks to go as of today but i think i mite be due a little earlier (wishful thinking)

Do you know if my babys head should be engaged by now? im still feeling asif he or she is trying his or her best to push down as i can fel a presure down below and it eases sometimes. I hope babys heads not 2 big lol!!

Good luck with your CS hun hope yours stays put for as long as you need it to xx

mum2b09 I was like this for 3 days before the arrival of my second baby!
Very loose bowel (TMI?), then a slow leaking of pinkish fluid, that went on the whole time. Contractions came and went, and by day 2 I was pretty much hooked up to the tens 24 hours a day. At about 11pm on the third day the batteries died in the tens and as DH went to butcher the smoke alarm I decided to go to hospital. She was born 7 hours later. It was slow going, but I kept moving, napped when I could, and sat in the bath A LOT!
You can take some paracetamol and see if that helps a bit.
Good luck sounds promising!

clouiseg · 02/03/2009 08:38

mum2b09 if its your first pregnancy, then its highly likely that baby has engaged. Again, ask the MW to check for you if / how far engaged you are...I think its generally in 2nd and susequent pregnancies that babies engage later. Fingers crossed!!!

March 15th (even if you hang on til then) will fly by - trust me! It seemed that it was only yesterday I was grumbling about having 'months' to go - now its 6 days aaarrrrgggghhhhh!

If you can, try to sleep as much as possible at the moment, then walk around - LOTS! Gravity helps move things along if anythings happening...as does a bit of nookie! (I am of the attitude that he helped put the baby in there, he can damn well help get it out lol!).

And keep us posted. Really hoping you have that baby soon! x

mum2b09 · 05/03/2009 11:57

Ahh still here girls had a MW appointment yesterday and the babys head is definatey engaged but i dont seem to be dialating even though these pains r pretty persistant, becoming slightly more regular and just wont go!! lol

A few girls i know having babies are all having theres im so impatient haha

Thankfully this week has one suprisingly quickly seeing as iv spent most of it in a warm bath or cuddled of the couch with a hot water bottle lol

Hopefully it will be out by monday haha more wishfl thinking i bet i go +10 lol x
