Decent excuses for not drinking - meeting boozy mates

I know it's been done before but I've trawled the archives - all I found was detox/ABs/drugs

Anyway I am meeting two old workmates for dinner this week
They will expect me to join them drinking copious quantities of wine
They have no shame and will accuse me of pregnancy if I'm not drinking

What other excuses are there?

Is it so bad if they figure out you are pregnant?

I'm just not keen on telling people - they never keep it quiet even if they promise
Only DH knows (and MN!)

Hangover is the best one if you really really don't want them to suspect you're preg.

You can even accept the first drink and THEN decide you can't face it when you smell it.. or have one sip.. then order yourself a virgin mary - even better if they don't hear the virgin bit

why don't you say you're sick and put it off for a few weeks, till you're ready to tell?
