Can anyone tell me what the normal system is for antenatal care in Edinburgh?

The communication from the doctor's surgery/midwifes/ultrasound dept is pretty poor, and I've had conflicting information from them all. I was originally told by the midwife dept that I had a booking in appt at the hospital which would include a scan on this coming Thurs. I was a bit but arranged babysitter for the DCs and got DH to have a bit of time off work so he could see the scan.

I then received a letter from the ultrasound dept saying that my scan is going to be on 9th March. I phhoned up to double check, and told them that the MWs had told be I'd be getting a scan at the booking in appt. They sounded blank, and basically told me "computer says no".

I then spoke to a friend yesterday who says that she had her dating scan at her bookikg in appt. Argh!

I can never seem to get through to anyone who sounds 100% confident in what they are telling me! I don't want DH to take time off work unnecessarily, but I don't want him to miss the first scan.

Can anyone tell me whether they had a dating scan at their booking in appt with the MW?

Definately at booking in appointment - at LCTC. My friend is more recent and she had scan at booking in as well and is having her 20 week scan at ERI.

Right, I've just spent most of the morning on the phone and the problem is that they are introducing some new system. I think the plan is to get women scanned a wee bit earlier, and they've taken the U/S booking system out of the control of the midwives. So my scan was going to be at ERI rather than Lauriston Buildings, and I was going to have a booking in appointment, and a separate scan appt (on a diff day).

However, I spoke to a very helpful MW who has arranged for me to have a scan at Laurston Buidlings on the same day as my booking in appt. Phew!
