Weird pulse feeling in lower bump

That's the only way I can think of to describe it. I'm 30weeks and have been getting this most nights usually when lying down in bed.
Any ideas what it is? It's very rhythmical and almost feels like it could be the baby's heartbeat. Or is the baby just lying on a a blood vessel and making it pulse?
Find it really distracting when I'm trying to sleep!

Is it the baby having hiccups by any chance? DD1 was a terrible hiccuper, and I often had these rhythmic pulses in my bump.

Hiccups! DS had them, always at bedtime too, was quite hiccuppy baby too but never seemed to bother him.

ooh never thought about that! Its so annoying though when I'm trying to sleep! Is there anything that causes him to get hiccups like certain foods that I can avoid?

I never managed to establish a link between my food and DD1's hiccups. But then I'm weird - I quite enjoyed it . It was a little extra connection between her and me, when I knew what she was doing in there.

Oh, and DD1 was a hiccuppy baby after birth too, like purple's DS, but it didn't bother her either.

i am 35 weeks pregnant with dc3 and this one hiccups all the time! Especially when i get into bed! Sometimes it feels quite horrible, and i have to shift so i dont feel it so intensely!

FruitynNutty · 17/02/2009 13:15

I get the same at night and very very early in the morning, it's definitely hiccups

ceb80 · 17/02/2009 16:33

Thanks everyone, general consensus is hiccups then!

Ive (or baby!) only had these twice that ive felt, but i loved the feeling!!

wilbur · 20/02/2009 10:42

Aaah, hiccups - I used to love feeling those. Still, annoying at night, I know. Hic.

Deaconwood · 20/02/2009 13:44

Yep, sounds like hiccups!

yup - another vote for hiccups here. Took me ages to work out what it was when I felt it. DS had hiccup attacks at least for times a day before birth. Still does now. He also get hiccups every time he laughs.
