Hi ticklytum - I was in exactly the same position 2 1/2yrs ago when expecting dd3. I had had 2 sections (first for breech(39weeks) & second for 14days overdue and hospital wouldn't induce me). I was desperate to try a natural birth and spoke in depth with my midwife.

She was very supportive and had me transferred to a different consultant (same hospital just one who was more supportive of vbac). he was also very supportive and spent a long time talking through my options and the various risks associated with each option. He then left the decision up to me.

I opted for a third section after his parting words of "at the end of the day if your scar ruptures it is the baby at greater risk than you...."

8 months ago I had my 4th section and have now stopped giving myself a hard time about not doing it naturally. I have 4 very beautiful and healthy girls.

Somewhere also on the internet is a heart rending story of a woman who too was desperate to try vbac2 but suffered complications and her daughter now has brain damage.

The decision is yours and the hospital cannot force you to do anything you don't want to but make sure you fully research you options before you decide.

Good Luck

thanks for that. i dont think its the end of the world if i have to have section, have had cousin who ended up with severe rupture and histerectomy. so am fearful of that, so thats one of my reasons for booking at 39 weeks and thought if i do go into labor before that i give it a try.
