Colleagues shocked by change in bump shape - is this what happens near the end?

Walked into the office this morning and my colleagues suddenly gasped at the change in the shape of my bump...

They said it is less rounded and has really dropped - does that happen when the baby engages?

Am 35 weeks.

Yep - that's what happens! It's possible that the baby has just turned over to be head down, do you know what position it was in at your last midwife check?

But yes, when the bump drops then the baby's head is engaging - don't worry though, they can be engaged for ages before anything happens, so it doesn't necessarily mean it's all about to happen.

I'm as am 33 weeks and baby is still stubbornly breech.....

yep

It doesn't always happen, but it can and is perfectly normal.

However, if you are worried, give your midwife a shout and ask her to check.

Yes, happened with both my boys - all of a sudden you end up with a low massive bump! Enjoy!

Thanks! I hadnt actually noticed, but then they get to look at my bump everyday so I'm sure they cant all be wrong...

MW said baby she was head down last Wednesday but she moves a lot so that could just have been a fluke.

Am glad it doesnt mean she's about to drop - my maternity leave doesnt start til Friday!

You might notice you start waddling a bit more now. Head engaged is a good sign, as baby is preparing, but echoing others, does not mean it is imminent..good luck!
