Apologies but it's TMI time I've been terribly constipated since becoming pregnant, however when I take anything for it I end up with chronic diarrhea.

I've tried figs, prune juice and lactulose so far. Any explanations for this odd body reaction gratefully received

Its something to do with the prostoglandin (?) as baby is growing, i too am suffering terribly with it, even had to resort to suppositories but they worked a treat. i went and got myself some lactulose solution from the chemist...am hoping this works

I've always suffered with constipation which definitely got worse through pregnancy. A midwife once told me that greasy food helps, which it did, but wasn't too happy to stay on a permanent diet of grease . Now i find the no carb or low carb approach works best, which i know takes away the fibre, but lots of fish and salad seems to work well. I f i really want carbs one day, i eat them early on in the day and definitely have none past 5:00pm. Good luck

Mummy - it def works just too well in my case

Techpep - that is really interesting as I'm following a carb intensive healthy eating plan. Mainly as all I fancy to eat is 'old fashioned' food, for want of a better way of phrasing it. I've eaten mash 3 times today

The net doctor thing was interesting - I drink a lot of water, exercise most days and eat fibe though! I think as I have IBS anywaymy body is probably overeacting to the natural slow down of intestinal function.

Does it ease off during PG or have I got another 8 months of this?
