Stomach bug in pregnancy

My dd was throwing up Friday and over the weekend I had horrendous nausea and retching and dizziness. Now have diaroeah and tummy pain. It's making me so paranoid as I can't quite tell if it's bowel pain or womb pain and I keep worrying about the baby (I'm only 8 weeks so still at the worrying phase). has anyone else had experience of stomach bugs whilst pregnant?

my sister did but when she only had 8wks left to go before due date. Just keep an eye on how you go and if you're at all concerned or are getting really ill, simply check in with your midwife or gp and they'll be able to advise/reassure you. Better to feel ok about things than worry in my opinion and if it's a really nasty bug they can advise you how to cope in the best way.

hello! i'm 10 weeks, and have just got over the awful norovirus. i was completely wiped out! Doctor, midwife and NHS direct all said the same thing, bug cant cross placenta, and baby is like a parasite, takes all it needs from mum, leaving mum feeling ten times wose than if she had the bug unpregnant!

Dont worry, just drink lots of fluids, eat as much as you can, as even if it comes out wither end your baby will get something from it.

hope you feel better soon!

I seemed to be prone to bugs during both of my pregnancies. Added to the constant morning sickness it was not the best of times for me.

NHS helpline were only concerned when I couldn't keep down fluids and I was told to sip water slowly every hour and if I couldn't keep any down after four hours go to A and E to be checked for dehdrydation.

If you are concerned give them a ring, but I'm sure you will be fine. Just make sure you drink plenty.

Hi, just wanted to reiterate what littleladylollipop said. I have awful tummy bug at about 14/15 weeks and hardly ate for about 5 days. Phoned midwife after a few days as was starting to get worried and she said baby would be taking everything it needs.

Drink plenty, eat a little if you can but don't panic if you can't and lots of rest. It might take longer than normal to get over I found as basically your body is giving you baby what it needs and fighting a virus so not many reserves left for you I'm afraid.

Hope you feel better soon

Echo what others have said about making sure you keep your fluid intake up and rest as much as possible. If you are at all worried, or have any bleeding then call your MW.

I am laid up with something horrible involving stomach cramps and kidney pain and general unwellness, so feel your pain. Hope you feel better soon
