ARM in VBAC attempt

I am nearly 38wks and hoping for a VBAC. My consultant told me today that she can break my waters and put me on the drip to avoid me having another ELC if I dont go naturally. Does anyone have any experience of this that they are willing to share?

I am about to be kicked off the computer by DH though so wont be able to log on again for a bit

TIA

As far as I know the advisability of the drip following C-S is debatable because of the scar. If they ARM and you don't go into to labour then have a limited no of hours to deliver you in because of infection risk.

I am likely to be in a simialr position in May.
What was the reason for c-s first time?

Breech. She said there was good success rate in our hospital with ARM followed by drip, it was just the gel they couldn't give if you were a VBAC'er

The policy in my hospital was no induction in any form for VBAC-ers. I have to say, I was happy with that, purely because I had a long (failed) induction first time around and found the prospect of another experience like that far worse than an elective section.

Mrsmattie that's exactly what I was told when I saw her @ 36wks to discuss birth options. But she seemed to have changed her mind yesterday

I think it is at the discretion of the hospital and/or consultant, to be honest. But it's entirely up to you.

Have you popped into the Imminent VBAC-ers thread, yet? I didn't have a VBAC in the end, but when I was gearing up for it, I found that thread so helpful and full of great info.

No - I'll head over there then, thanks.

Might also start a thread to get general feedback on ARM
