Hi,

I wonder if anyone else feels the same as me or did when they were at the same stage. I am nearly 17 weeks pregnant and apart from a little bloating I am not showing pregnant at all. I feel like I am in limbo - luckily my nausea went at 12 weeks on the dot but since then I have had nothing but needing to pee a lot to tell me I am pregnant. I can't feel the baby and I can't see any evidence - I know what you will say in a couple of weeks I will be moaning my head off saying fat and sore but it is embarrasing when people say they can't tell.

The only positive I have is that I went for a doppler last week and the babies heart beat was good and strong and found within a couple of seconds but even still! If I am going to enjoy this experience I want to look pregnant not just fat.

With my 1st baby I didn't start showing until at least 5 months (in fact I was probably 6 months before the tiny bump was noticeable to strangers)...by the end of 9 months I had a huge enormous bump.

campergirl30 · 08/02/2009 20:35

I was exactly the same. I felt like a bit of a fraud. Im now 24/40 (first pregnancy) with an unmissable bump! It just happened - around 20 weeks in my case - and Im sure it'll happen for you too. Although Im regretting wishing for it so much now none of my clothes (apart from pajamas and jogging bottoms) fit me and I'm skint from buying new clothes!

Yep, I agree, I was starting to get a bit fed up of people not believing me when I told them I was pregnant, but in the last two weeks my bump has popped out and now I feel that people looking at me will think I'm pregnant, and not just had a big meal!! I think it is to do with how strong your stomach muscles are- ie the stronger your stomach muscles, the later you show, but we all end up a similar size in the end, ha! I am 21 weeks now btw!

It'll shoot out soon. And if you are 17 weeks in not too long you will feel the LO move - that's the best thing ever (at first!). Then will all get enormous and uncomfy and by the end you will be fed up of your LO kicking you in the ribs and squeezing your internal organs into a tiny space and you will look back on the days of not feeling it with some regret.....

Good luck! It all lovely and worth it in the end for a baby

i didnt show with first till 7 mths im 30 weeks right now and have a small bump i only started showing between 24/26 weeks dont worry you will literaly just pop out one day and everyone will be asking when you are due!

nandos · 09/02/2009 12:12

i was just going to ask the same question but all of you ladies reassured me
i am 15+4 today and have no noticable bump to me or others. my next scan wont be till march and the only way now to check if baby is alright is the fetal doppler that we bought last time.
worriedamy you made me smile when you said 'we all end up in similar size in the end' i really hope so cos' i havent gain a single weight from my constant nausea n vomitting and im just 5'5 and on the skinny side..it worries me a bit.

I'm 25 weeks and two weeks ago you could not tell I was PG .
Now I have strangers asking about the baby and quite a big bump .

peachface · 09/02/2009 12:16

I was same with first pregnancy but then when you do start show you really grow a lot! Even at 20 weeks although I had a bump, if I was wearing a jacket at work, some people hadn't realised I was preggers (gutting when it's your first and you're feeling so proud!) Second time around I thickened at the waist within a month and I was showing a rounded bump by 3 months!
I was massive towards the end with both of them - all up front, big and roundy!
Don't worry - yu'll soon have a lovely pot belly to pat and keep you warm in this chilly weather!

I just looked a bit fat until I was about 24 weeks. It took me till 16 weeks to get back to pre-pg weight. What particularly annoyed me though was that I didn't have a bump, couldn't get in my clothes but people kept on telling me I looked the same as usual I think not!
