Migraines in third trimester?

I am 30 weeks pg and in the last few weeks have had quite a few migraines, first thing in the morning when I wake up (with visual disturbance) -- they are only mild, thankfully, and go after 30 mins or so.

I have spoken to my MW about them but she says I'm very low risk for pre-eclampsia (didn't have it with DS and my blood pressure is fine).

Just wondered if anyone else had migraines suddenly come on in the third trimester? I used to get them regularly when I was a teenager but haven't had any for about 7 years...

I get them Meg but I am only 24 weeks pg and have had them throughout my pregnancy. My consultant has suggested upping my dosage of aspirin when I get them (I have a blood clotting disorder and take aspirin and inject heparin daily) but I am not sure that this would be advice given to all. Hope you get some better help soon!

Hi Meg. I had these with my 2nd DC pregnancy, in the last 10 weeks or so. Got visual and speech disturbance (which was bizarre!), but no headache as such. Lasted for about 20 minutes. Had about 4-5 in all. Mentioned it to MW and she checked for all other signs of pre-eclampsia, as with you, but nothing. I didn't have them at all with my 1st DC. Then had one immediately after delivering my DS, and never had them since.

Now expecting 3rd in 6 weeks and haven't yet had one at all. So for me it's definitely a pregnancy symptom, although not with every one.

Just keep an eye on them and as long as your MW is aware and checking BP and all that, you should be fine.

Hope that helps....
