I'm 20 weeks today and woke up with the most awful sore throat and all the chemist would give me is paracetomal, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on any other over the counter drugs like a spray. Would it do any harm? Am in so much pain and the doctor isn't open till Monday . Am working so hard at the moment and really needed this weekend to rest and relax to gear myself up for next week.

Thanks so much x

Sorry can't advise about sprays but think you should start taking vit C also so that it doesn't develop into a cold or anything else on top of the sore throat. Hope you feel better soon.

Anyone will only recommend paracetamol during pregnancy. You could try gargling with salt water?

most throat drugs will say you need to advise a doctor before taking them....which is a bummer considering its saturday.

I had a bad cold about 8 weeks ago and took honey by the spoonful. Manuka honey is supposed to be really good as it has healing properties in it....expensive though. It really smoothed my throat and stopped me coughing! Eating extra strong mints also helped.....

Hope you get better soon!
