I know u get postpartum bleed and it reduces over the weeks but does that have to stop first before menstration? I gave birth 4 wks ago.

My experience of lochia is it lasted over a month!!! The flow would increase and decrease it was maddening.

Are you OK? Is your MW still visiting you oculd ask her, or ask your HV?

Lochia should decrease to a creamy discharge before it stops. A recurrence of bright red bleeding might indicate some retained placental tissue.

My experience of it was lasting about six weeks with DS1 and although it did increase/decrease, this was only for the first couple of weeks; after that it was pretty steady.

I would call your MW or see the GP just to get checked out.

After DD my period arrived after 5 a few days after the lochia drying up weeks so only had a little bit of respite from bleeding , i wasnt very pleased !

Drs said period so soon was rare but nothing to worry about.
