I've been experiencing really intense itching all over my body for approximately 1 1/2 weeks, Ihave no rash and my urine is so dark it's almost black. Saw a nurse on Monday who took a liver function blood test to rule out the possibility of obstetric cholestasis. The blood test come back that I have glandular fever? despite having no symtoms. I'm really worried that I have this liver condition and the results that have come back in the blood tests have been misinturpreted. In was wondering if anyone had experienced the same sort of thing. I have an appiontment with a doctor this afternoon would anyone think it would be unreasonable if I asked for the blood test to be repeated?

I saw midwife on Friday, she said it was probably be hormones but is doing a liver function test anyway. Since Friday the itching has spread and is associated with small raised spots, it doesnt look like a rash as such. It is not itchy all the time. ANy ideas what this could be?

I'm sorry Cori I don't really know what it could be. Have you eaten anything different/ could it be an allergy to something? I've not had any type of rash at all just this silly itching which is driving me insane but there's really nothing to see on my skin at all. Really sorry I can't help you but maybe someone else can.

I have googled rashes in pregnancy, there is a load of them, none of them too serious though.

If the itching starts on your bump, and is red with itchy spots like mosquito bites, it could be urticated papular eruption which is sometimes called PUPP. This only occurs in first pregnancies, fairly late on (usually after 36 weeks), and is just rare enough (1 in 250) for the normal pregnancy textbooks to contain nothing on it. I know this because I was diagnosed with it last week and am trying hard to copy with the AGONY of nightly itching.

My GP has prescribed some aqueous cream with menthol, which does soothe the symptoms but only for about an hour, so every night I am up at least once an hour to rub more cream in. Apparently the only cure is delivery. It can't harm the baby, but it's the worst symptom of pregnancy I have experienced so far.
