Can anyone advise sorry if this is TMI...I'm 18 +6

I've been constipated last few days and finally 'went' yesterday, have been quite regular since thanks to dried apricots...

Since last night I've had a terrible sharp pain in the right hand side of my abdomen. When it started, I couldn't straighten up as the pain was so bad, this happened again today. It feels like wind, or maybe muscular def not cramps. Again, sorry if this it TMI, but I don't think it can be wind as everything is OK in that department!! Too ok actaully!

The pain disappears if I sit down or lie down but if get up is there in varying degrees of painfulness.

Baby is still moving and giving its tiny little kicks every now and then.

Question is do I call MW or is it more likely to just be bowel related?

thank you.

it sounds more like ligament pain to be honest. I had pains like that, only on the one side, from about 16 weeks until about 21 weeks. When I got up from sitting, or walked too fast or something the pain was so bad it took my breath away. If it eases when you rest then it's probably your body's way of telling you to rest!

is this your first?

Hi aunty, yes this is my first, therefore not sure what's 'normal' or not. I think you're probably right, I'll rest up and see how I go. Thanks

I had lots more stretchy pains with my first pregnancy, I think the muscles are slacker in subsequent pregnanices!

Prob wouldn't hurt to ring the MW though, if you're worried.

Around this time my bump grew quite a lot and had a fair amount of pain in one or the other side. My mw put it down to ligament pain as there were no other symptoms. I remember with DD1 I was a week away from my 20 week scan and it was Christmas so visiting the inlaws. I was in terrible pain down one side and worried sick. Was even contemplating going to their local hospital as the pain was really sharp and intense. Fortunately, my DH calmed me down, ran a warm bath and it eased off. The scan reassured me. I am guessing you will have a scan soon too and hopefully that will put your mind at rest

If you are worried, a phone call to your mw might ease any concerns. If you develop any other symptoms obviously get medical advice asap.

I don?t think it is bowel related if your bowels are back to normal. If you were badly constipated then I would think that a possible answer.

(I am no expert though and have no medical training so purely speculation)

I got this in my last pregnancy and my current one... very sharp pain down the lower side of my bump, it can be either side, but mostly the right, and it usually happens when I try to get up off the couch, or when turning over in bed.

I have reported this to GP and MW, neither of whom seemed very interested TBH, and it seems to be just muscle spasms, although it is breathtakingly painful and other people who see me when it happens are usually v freaked out.

Am 23 weeks and getting exactly the same thing here - quite a sharp pain on one or other side of bump, usually low down and most often on the right hand side.

Happens when I shift position too quickly.

It is quite a sharp acute pain that makes me screw up my eyes and go "ouch" rather than a crampy pain. It passes after a few seconds and I find giving the area a firm rub helps a bit.

Round ligament pain, I think.

Thought I'd update. I gave in and called Triage on Sunday as it was so sore. Spoke to a doctor who asked me a few questions, like did I have back pain, which I didn't. She said as those have said above that it is most likely ligament pain due to stretching. She advised me to have a bath or put a hot (but not too hot) water bottle on it. I have to say it has eased quite a bit. Didn't really feel it today, but it really was bloody agony over the weekend.

Thanks for all the advice, it's reassuring to know that others have the same symptoms.

Sorry should have said, doctor said she asked questions about back pain as it may have been a urine infection.
