Birth with DS was epidual and forceps, 3rd degree cut. Long.

DD was great, no pain relief, 8hr labour, 7 hours of it at home, small tear, no stitches, home in time for tea.

Your third one will probably follow your 2nd one, be a bit easier and shorter i expect.

smallships -- DP says the same about having number 3. We are lucky to have 2 healthy ones, why tempt fate.

My argument re: space. We live in a Victorian House which is down the street from where his grandfather grew up. He was 1 of 10 and they coped! And we have a a loft conversion and a kitchen extention, so have more room than they did!

Is this a good argument?

SmallShips · 01/02/2009 11:43

Yes a very good argument , or casually mention you want 10 and compromise at 3.

Hope you're right Scorpio, they were both back to back though, hope the next isn't, had awful backache at the end of both.

I think we do have a "programmed" number of children that feels "right", but that number can change: when I was about 10 I told everybody I would be having 12 children one day - thank goodness I live in an age where I will not have to go through with that!!
I always felt I would like 2 or 4, and having made DS3, sort of feel a real "need" to keep going. I think if we had stopped after DS2, I would have been quite contented.
I have a friend who a this overwhelming feeling of "family complete" in the labour room holding her DS3.
I so get the worry about "pushing" it: I am 42, have known genetic problem (which has not affected any of DSs, and was not responsible for MCs) and have 3 healthy children. So why, oh why want more?? All I can say to that is just that I do...so shoot me!
