Does anyone know if eating too many pickled onions makes you constipated? I have tried googling but couldn't find anything. I have really hadbad cravings forpickled onions and sat and ate a whole jar last night and nearly a whole on the day before. Today I have been really constipated soz if TMI, had to end up using a suppository as didnt want to push too much..again soz TMI!! thing is cos of me craving for the onions I can't stop! am only 9 wks pg, can anyone shed some light on this. I know constipation can be fairly common in pg (unfortunately).

Dunno about picked onions but if you eat plenty of dried apricots- without the sulphates that dyed them orange- you will be visiting the toilet soon!

Linseed sprinkled on your cereal or in yoghurt will also "keep things moving."

Dried apricots and dried prunes help, make a great healthy snack and are really good for you (agree with previous post to avoid the orange apricots; go for the brown looking ones e.g. Tescos)
Prune juice is also good, although I tend to water it down. The combination of apple and pear juice is also supposed to help. Not sure if it does, but Welch do a lovely pear, apple and white grape juice that is delicious so no hardship to drink.
The above four kept me 'going' just about for the first few weeks. Then I discovered bran! Bought a big bag for 85p from a health food shop, and sprinkle it on two meals a day. e.g. on toast, in a sandwich, stirred into main meal. Use about a teaspoon per meal, and it's worked wonders! Absolutely no problems in that department now.

I would rather imagine that pickled onions are rather fibrous and would have the opposite effect!
