Mind gone blank. How many nappies do I need to pack in my hospital bag? Really can't remember!

when i had ds1 i took in the small pack of newborn, we stayed 2 days and bubba used them all!!
pack a second bag with nappies etc etc and leave at home that partner or friend can bring in if yo need it then you will have anything u may need

Thanks. Not due till April but started getting stuff as and when we see it cheap - got some nappies that were reduced because bag was opened etc to save some money. Going to start packing hospital bag soon just so I have somewhere to put it all and it doesn't get lost!

Have written a rough list - there is just so much!

Def a pack my dd2 used 3 nappies in delivery suite and she was only it an hour

She poohed everywhere, the midwife couldn't get over it

Coldtits · 25/01/2009 13:51

Take a packet

chloejessmeg · 25/01/2009 13:54

What sort of size pack though? I have a huggies pack that is a lot smaller (as in less nappies) than the Pampers pack I got this morning?

Think they are called carry packs for Pampers, they are about A4 size and have a handle at the top. Can't rem how many nappies they have in but should tide you over.

AnybodyHomeMcFly · 25/01/2009 17:37

PS they do have some on post natal wards if you run out..

BabyBaby123 · 25/01/2009 18:21

they are the packs of 24, I'm taking one, if you have to stay in longer than thought someone can always nip home/to the shop for you to buy some more! Most hospital shops stock newborn size nappies too

LynetteScavo · 25/01/2009 18:24

I took a whole pack of newborns -can't remember how many I used.

How many maternity towells? - now there is a question.

BabyBaby123 · 25/01/2009 18:33

that's what i'm stuggling with! pretty sure i remember being 'given' them straight after birth and was out within 6 hours last time so i'm thinking probably 1 pack but maybe 2 if you feel you might be in longer....

do i also need breast pads/disposable knickers?? I just can't remember anything

PlumBumMum · 25/01/2009 18:49

Def breast pads
But I didn't like disposable knicks so I went to primark bought cheap packet of big kidney warmers as my nannie calls them

Northernlurker · 25/01/2009 18:56

My rule for maternity pads is to think of the number you think you would need - then double it. And leave the exact product and place to buy it written down at home so your dh can go buy more without making a fuss!

LynetteScavo · 25/01/2009 21:03

If your waters have already broken when you go into hostpital, what ever number you first thought of, X by 10.

BabyBaby123 · 25/01/2009 21:09

ok thanks

notcitrus · 25/01/2009 21:36

Took a pack, but had to stay in 3 days and the trolley they had A on had piles of wipes and nappies and mat pads underneath, so used none.

Out of all the stuff I took, I used 2 huge clean T-shirts, 1 long stretchy skirt, 1 towel, and 4 pairs of MrNC's old briefs, and loads of food. And about 4 vests + sleepsuits for A.

It was so hot I didn't bother with clothes mostly.

hazeyjane · 25/01/2009 21:40

I took 2 packs of maternity towels with dd1, and 4 with dd2 (also stocked up with about 10 packs at home - Ineeded loads

1 pack of newborn nappies

2 packs of disposable knickers (I'm a fan!)

MrsMattie · 25/01/2009 22:09

I bought a pack of 24 newborn sized nappies. Can always send Dh out if you need more.

samsonara · 25/01/2009 22:20

A whole pack can be a bit bulky for the baby bag, so you could just pack 6 nappies out of the pack and put the rest in a bag in your partners car so that they can easily get them for you when they visit.

chloejessmeg · 26/01/2009 14:47

DH doesn't have a car!

Babybaby - you would really only take 1 nappy? I take more than that to pop to the shops with DD!

Yes I needed LOADS of maternity pads. Seriously, at least 2 packs a day for the first week or so.

Nappies - Take a small pack of 24ish, I used Tesco NB nappies they were better than any other brand and much cheaper!

Maternity pads - Again a pack from Tesco.

Knickers - A pack of 3 Bridget pants from Asda, DP got me more when I needed.

I took a Huggies change bag plus a drawstring gym bag in with me and that lasted me 5 days I had to get a section.

BabyBaby123 · 26/01/2009 18:45

no chloejessmeg - I'm taking 1 pack
