My friend said she would do a baby shower for me but has since told me she wont have time and that she is sorry to let me down. I am disappointed but completely understand. I dont want to ask someone to hold one for me as that defeats the object so what do you think of me having a "Pre Baby Get Together" at my flat for my friends so I can see them all before the baby comes. I have bought everything for baby so dont expect people to come and give me presents. I just want to see my friends and been having a shit time with OH so want cheering up and something to organise and look forward to.

What do you all think??

Sounds like a nice thing to do, esp as you won't get a chance to see them much after the baby's born, and when you do, if you're anything like me you'll be so distracted by wailing/pooing/feeding/whingeing baby that you won't take in a word of what they say, and eventually get home and realise you hadn't even asked them how they are

Enjoy some distraction free time with friends while you can... so long as you let people know it's not a baby shower and gifts aren't necessary. Cakes yes, presents no

Go for it! Why not - your priorities will change once your baby arrives so it would be nice for you to get together with your friends

Great idea. Do it!

Agree that it sounds like a fab idea! I am going to have one, too. Don't want a baby shower (don't want presents), but do want to eat cake w my girlfriends! Really glad I am not the only one who is thinking of having one, too, Ace.

YOu sound a bit down, Ace. Want to talk about why you've been having a shit time with OH? Like why he's OH and not dh? Are you OK?

It sounds like a lovely idea - definitel do it.

I am having a lunch with friends tomorrow! Like you I was not bothered about 'showering' but thought nice lunch would be fun. When I sent an email out I said it was just lunch and bootees not required! I think some of them have bought little things but knew it wasn't expected. A line saying "your presence rather than presents is required" makes it clear! Do have it, I am sure it will help cheer you up.
