Did anyone else find themselves irrationally psychotic in pregnancy?

I am so stroppy! About anything. I have no good reason to be, this is a happy planned pregnancy and I have a lovely supportive husband, but I feel like I have PMT much of the time and could fall out with my reflection if it looked at me in the wrong way.

I wasn't like this with DS1.

Is this usual?

Me too. I hate everybody, even those i know i love. I am normally exceptionally easy going and cheerful, but can't seem to lift the scowl off my face. i'm annoyed by everything to an irrational degree. I've been like this since about week 8 and I'm now 13 weeks. It's my 5th baby and i've been grumpy before - but never as bad as this.

I turn into a psychotic weeper when pg. Nine months of irrational tantrums. I hate being pg.

very irrational/weepy/misunderstood/unreasonable/hysterical/demanding....but it gets better...about to have dc3 and dh is still by my side!

Any thing in the news about cruelty to children or the vulnerable would reduce me to a puddle.

i feel better hearing this (suspect it will be short lived....)

I seem to be ok this time round, but with my first I was full of rage and very anti-social. I would have stopped talking to my mother if I thought I could have got away with it. Very impatient and just kind of felt 'GET OUT OF MY WAY, I'M PREGNANT' the whole time.

intravenouscoffee · 22/01/2009 22:06

Totally normal. I was vile for long periods of pregnancy, wanted to kill anyone who dared to irritate me even slightly. Just wanted to scream 'I'm pregnant. How DARE you be breathing the same air as me without permission?' a lot of the time. Got better once I was on mat leave and could avoid seeing people whenever I was psychotic.

Yes. I became very very assertive. I had a row with my neighbour because of the noise whereas before I just put up with it. At work I became very vocal and quick to complain when I felt things were not right. I really didn't suffer fools gladly and instead of biting my lip I would inform people of their shortcomings. Everyone was a little scared of me.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 23/01/2009 13:17

I would have flashes of psychosis, but luckily I realised how I was behaving and would apologise afterwards
