Can anyone recommend a private midwife in the SW London / Surrey area?

I am extremely unhappy with the midwife I have been assigned on the NHS and have made a complaint. Should this not be resolved to my satisfaction I am thinking about hiring a private midwife as I would like a homebirth. Can anyone recommend one? And do you know what the going rates are please?

TIA

Hello,

First post so bear with me! Sorry to hear you're having problems with the NHS midwives. I am booked with South London Independant Midwives and have Annie and Teresa looking after me. I'm in Kingston but they cover a fairly wide area. I can't praise them highly enough. They are knowledgable, supportive and home visits just make everything so much more pleasant. The downside is they are not cheap = about £3500. But that does include all postnatal care as well. They get booked up pretty quickly. I'm not sure when you're due (I'm at beginning of April) but it's certainly worth giving them a ring and they might be able to point you in the direction of someone else if they can't help.

Website here - hope I've got link right.

Thanks very much. I have heard great things about them on another thread. Looks like they will be my first port of call.

Caroline Flint - Tooting Birth Centre. She may be a bit more than £2-3k though as I think that she was charging that around 7 years ago. She has done a few slebs recently such a Davina, but don't let that put you off. She's been around for ages and is v good.
