hi ladies

just need a bit of advice. i am currently looking for work and have been for some time but with the uks situation at the moment it is very hard.

however yesterday i found out i am pregnant and am about 5 weeks gone. i am still looking for work but should i manage to find a job in the next couple of weeks do i have to tell my employer that i am pregnant?

i do have a history of miscarriage and i dont want to tell anyone i am pregnant just yet and i certainly dont want it to affect me getting work.

thanks!

Hi imamamummy,
You have up to 15 before baby is born to tell any employer.
I'm self employed but I think to qualify for maternity leave you have to have worked for an employer for at least 26 weeks. If you start a job in the next couple of weeks you'll have to work for the employer until you are at least 32/33 weeks pregnant.
An employer can't sack you because you are pregnant, but am sure other mumsnetters may have experience otherwise. x

You don't have to tell them and they have NO RIGHT to ask.

I started a six month contract when I was 2 months gone. Sadly I had the last three months of that off sick! They were brilliant, and they really wanted me to go back after baby, but I never did.

Wishing you luck, with jobhunting and the pregnancy
