Just wondering if any of you had a false negative w pregnancy test??? No idea when my periods due as havent returned (still breastfeeding) but I have had the feeling that Im pregnant over the last few weeks (druged sleepy feeling, feeling like AF is coming for over a week then nothing) stuffy nose, but could smell kitchen towel (?!) achy back and hips, shooting pains in boobs. Done several BFN ebay tests over last 2 days but didnt get a BFP for awhile with the other pregnancies, feel like Im goin mad! Just want to know either way. Would be a suprise baby as already got 3 4 and under but wed cope! What does anyone think??? Should I know the signs by now??

I did. With ds2.

When ds1 was about 6mnths old I got the same feeling I had with him - preoccupied with thoughts of pregnancy, being able to feel my womb in my stomach and thinking about it all the time (if that makes any sense!!) so I did a test. My mistake was getting a cheapo from the chemist! Neg. So I thought fair enough. But I still couldn't stop thinking about it and about my womb (I know it sounds odd, but I kept picturing the dame thing! ) and then I started getting sick, but I told myself I must have a bug Anyway, I did another test in the end (clearblue) and BFP! had a scan and I was 4 months pregnant. Which would mean that I got the first thoughts within a week of conceiving (same as with ds1!)

I didn't but my sodding locum GP did. Then told me 'there are lots of reasons why you're periods can be late young lady' thought DH was going to give his nose a good tweak, and DH is a chilled out softy.
Nurse said it happened to someone else at our practise too recently, bet it was the same hapless doc.

Shoneshine - I have to say that I felt that the same way that you are describing, for about two months, while breastfeeding and then finally af arrived. I think that the body re-adjusting to your af coming back is just like pre-af and early preg symptoms. It went on for so long with me I was convinced I must be pg, but nope.

It is possible to get negative tests while pg. Both my mum and my sister did just that, they found out 3 and 4 months pg respectively, neither ever got a positive test for those particular pregnancies. So it does happen that you can be pregnant and get false negatives. But it is unusual.

I think that it is much more likely that you are just having hormonal changes due to af going to return at some point soon, as I said for me it was about 8 weeks of symptoms. I hope you are not disappointed with this answer as I have seen you have posted about this on several conception threads, and I think that you are maybe getting a little excited with the thought of another little surprise. So if it does turn out to be a surprise, then that would be great for you I am sure.

Thanks everyone, both reasons are plausible, I suppose only time will tell and I will have to be patient and try to forget about it! Hecate- I do have a feeling most of the time in my womb like when I was first pregnant, that flg of pressure like theres something there BUT I could be wrong, it could be all the hormonal changes.I really dont mind either way
