Sorry if TMI - just had sex and liquid came out - could it be my waters?

Sorry this is really embarrassing but need to ask someone as not keen on phoning midwife about it! Its my due date today - DP and I had sex this morning and I had an orgasm just afterwards. As I did I felt some liquid coming out and there was a patch on the bed, probably about a couple of egg cups worth. Nothing more has leaked out since - could that have been my waters? I thought it had supposed to be a much bigger gush?

I've had a lot of discharge in the last couple of weeks and went into the hospital a couple of a days ago for them to check that it wasn't my waters leaking - she said it wasn't and my cervix was still 'closed and long'. Don't want to keep phoning them and wasting their time as they're always really busy and make me feel as though I'm wasting their time. Do you think the discharge could have caused the liquid to come out?

It doesn't always gush. It can just be a dribble, depends where the bag has ruptured. Just keep watching and see if there's any more.

Could it have been a bit of wee?

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 16/01/2009 10:16

I second tmmj.

iwouldgoouttonight · 16/01/2009 10:17

MMJ - that's what I was thinking - would be really embarrassed if the midwife checked it out and thats what it was!!

If it was my waters would more come out, even if its just in dribbles?

Its just that the wet patch was much bigger than normal and I actually felt it 'squirting' out IYSWIM! And it being my due date is making me worry! Far too embarrassed to phone midwife (who isn't especially helpful or sympathetic at the best of times!) and ask about sex and squirting!!!

You would prob get more dampness thoughout the day. My waters broke after sex as well but they trickled a little bit ytou would notice esp if you are moving around. My dd was born next day. Dont be embarassed to call mw as they encourage sex to get things moving sperm softens the cervix remember !!!

when my waters with dd2 went they 'dribbled' slowly for hours. I had wear an incontinence pad

I doubt its your waters if there have been no more.

Pinkbump3 · 16/01/2009 10:26

just call mw say you have had a little leak and you had sex earlier, you dont have to say it was during the deed if your waters have gone you dont want to pick up an infection esp since you had sex. I got an infection and it was bad. I dont want to scare you but these things do happen. x good luck

EachPeachPearMum · 16/01/2009 11:02

tmmj- why are you so sensible? I want to be like you!

no advice really but just wanted to say well done for still being up for it. I'm 34 weeks and haven't been able to face the thought of it for weeks! (not sure if it would be physically possible even if I was up for it as due to SPD can barely get my legs apart!)

Hope all goes well and your LO is with you soon x

NattyPlus2andAHalf · 16/01/2009 14:37

i agree with others, its more than likely just the "results" of the sex.. dont forget if your cervix is closed the sperm has no where to go, but back out.
like mmj said, put a pad in and see.

good on ya for even having sex at 40 weeks

iwouldgoouttonight · 16/01/2009 15:23

Thanks for all the support (congratulates self on still having sex!! Sadly it was definitely the 'you must have sex with me to get this baby out' type as opposed to any passion or anything!! )

Have been wearing a pad all day and it doesn't seem any wetter than normal (have been having to wear them for discharge lately anyway - more TMI!) so I'm assuming it was just the results of sex rather than waters. Mattress is still wet though so I'm still a bit shocked at the quantity of it!

I had some cramps yesterday evening but they stopped after a couple of hours and nothing since. No other symptoms today.

dont forget only 2% of people go into labour on their due date, so try not to worry, baby will be here soon enough! xx

EachPeachPearMum · 16/01/2009 21:44

tmmj was not back-handed- really, truly. I wish I knew what to do in lots of situations- but you just knew!

Metatron · 16/01/2009 21:55

erm female ejaculation no?

Sounds like it to me.

NancysGarden · 16/01/2009 22:09

It sounds like you've decided it wasn't your waters, but just in case, I don't think it's advised to have any baths (or sex) if your waters have broken. (Not quoting but I'm sure I read that when I was pregnant.)

When my waters broke (after several hours of labour) it was such a tiny amount that I didn't believe the MW when she told me .

Best of luck with everything x
