I had one with dd2 at 7 days overdue

It was a bit uncomfortable but certainly not painful

I had her at 10 days over

it's ok
i mean it isn't fun but not awful (IME)

don;t be in a hurry though
it can lead to further interventions - i wouldn't have one just because you fancy things kicking off

Hi she might do as I had one booked for my 40 week app but I was due just before xmas and was adament that I didn't want to be in hosp over xmas. Turned out i didn't need as ds came on his due date. If you have concerns then they might. Every midwife different.

Good luck anyway!

Hi,

I had my midwife apt at 40+1 and she did a sweep for me. I have to say - mine was very painful but having spoken to other ladies who have had her - i found out i had a midwife who went digging for fossils up there! No, they're meant to be uncomfortable but hey - was worth it! Had it Tues am, was in established labour on Thurs night, DD born fri am!

Good luck

Where I live they offer it at 5 days overdue and again at 10days overdue if that doesn't work.

Same here, I went to m/w at 40 weeks and am booked in for one on Saturday when I'll be 41 weeks. They won't do a sweep unless you are a week overdue here. If I were you I'd try and wait! It doesn't sound that comfortable, I really don't want one myself!!!

Was booked for one the day dd was due-they couldnt do it as cervix nowhere near ready. Had another at 41+,it felt quite brutal and v painful-sorry! Plus I still needed induction.

Why interfere, risk infection and prom, just for the sake of a few days?
