7 weeks pregnant and a slight bleed

Hello ladies,

I am a new member of about oohhh 10 minutes. I am a first timer at being pregnant and like many of you, don't really have a clue what's right or wrong.

My question is, I went for a poo last night (sorry) and had to use a little bit of effort as I hadn't been for 24 hours. When I wiped myself there was a bloody stain on the toilet paper but not from my bottom. Is this normal? I've not really got stomach ache or anything and went to bed straight afterwards to lay down, just in case. So far this morning, all seems to be back to 'normal'.

Any advise would be appreciated.

Hiya, sorry to hear about this worry. If this happened to me I would try not to worry too much and probably wait and see if it happened again, but I'm not pg with my first, and I do understand what a worrying time it is. If you're really concerned could you have a chat with your gp?

ohmeohmy · 15/01/2009 07:22

I had a small bleed early on in pregnancy and told it was cervical erosion. rest of pregnancy normal. if worried call midwife

MrsSanta · 15/01/2009 07:39

Are you sure it was from the front, it could have been a strain from the poo. I would see how you go and rest if possible.

Mia1966 · 15/01/2009 18:17

It's all confusing isn't it. Yes it was from the front but seemed to settle down in the wee hours of the morning. I've just tried to have a quiet day at work and my lovely boyfriend is cooking dinner tonight

Hi, i had the same with both my pregnancies. After going to hospital for the 3rd time they found out it was a erosion of the cervix, i had a weekness in my cervix caused by pregnancy hormones, when you strain (to poo) and some times whilst having sex (if you have an erosion) it may cause bleeding.

Its best to get any bleed checked out, mainly to put your mind at rest and to check baby is ok.

NimChimpsky · 15/01/2009 18:24

I had a bleed at 7 weeks and like others, it was a cervical erosion.

Perhaps best to get it checked out to be on the safe side.

Welcome to MN. You won't escape you know.

I had similar in my 3rd pg. Was about 7 weeks too and had gone to the toilet (also poo) and when I was wiping, from the place on the tissue that the blood was situated, it seemed like it was coming from the front. My previous 2 pg had ended in mc so I rushed to the hospital where they told me it was coming from the back.

If you are sure it's coming/was coming from the front, I would make an appointment with the gp and discuss your concerns, it may be possible to have an early scan as they will be able to see the heart beat from 7 weeks.

Wilkiepedia · 15/01/2009 21:48

I had exactly the same! 2nd mg (first m/c at 7 weeks), had bleeding 6 weeks, everything settled down, went for a poo at 8.5weeks and had bright red blood on tissue from front NOT back (definitely) - turned out to be cervical erosion. I'm guessing a ruptured blood vessel in cervix from the pressure of pushing the poo out...

(sorry TMI)

Hi Mia1966
I had exactly the same thing happen to me at 7w and I am now 11w and have had no further bleeding. I had my scan today and baby has a healthy heart beat and looked fine on the u/s. I hope you have the same bleeding I had and everything turns out just fine.

I bled in both pregnancys at 6-7 weeks, then again at 11-15 weeks and had two 2DS's at the end of it

Try not to worry - its more common than they tell you

Mia1966 · 27/01/2009 00:42

Just to update you all. I had really bad cramps on Sunday and had had a brownish watery bleed since Saturday.

Went for an early scan Monday afternoon and although 8.5 weeks pregnant, the scan only showed 6/1 weeks and no heartbeat.

I was more upset than I thought I would be and my God have I got the mother of all cramps right now. Just waiting for the painkiller to kick in.

So, I will be signing off for a while and hopefully, better luck next time
