Have I pulled a muscle in tummy?

Had upper abdominal pain (left side, about an inch above navel) a few weeks back and went to mat triage. They couldn't help, said baby fine, no idea.

I think it is probably a muscle strain as hurts when I cough (have had bad cold recently!) and rationally I am sure that's right. Trouble is, being 35+ am not really in much of a rational state of mind

Anyone else suffering such a thing?? Is so painful...

Hi Im sure your right and it is just where you have strained a muscle while coughing. Was just wondering if you have any high blood pressure, swellngs? I developed pre-eclampsia at 38 weeks with DD (had high blood pressure and swellings for 3/4 weeks before this) and they diagnosed this because I suddenly had protein in my urine as well. Just wanted to see if you had any of these symptoms because I was also getting a pain under my ribs, which I was told was probably the baby kicking but also that it could be epigastric pain, which you can get with pre eclampsia. Dont want to worry you just wanted to see if you were ok x

BP always completely perfect. Last check was a week ago. Have had swelling in fingers, but no other signs. They also said could be baby kicking, but doesn't feel like it at all. Hurts more when I am more active, but hard to know what actually sets it off. Can hurt a lot to the touch when I moisturise tummy.

Hi there, Just reading this myself, keels what was your pain like am 40 weeks and 4 days. Been getting stitch pain in right side upper ribs and now feel a bit constricted around my bra strap area.
Was okay till yesterday, also have horrific heartburn, wonderin if they are connected.

Hi Beantin, Im sure if your bps fine then it should be ok, doesnt hurt to get it checked out though if your worried.
Hi Loveactually hope you are ok, the pain was quite like a stitch, bit like a stabbing pain thats always there if you know what I mean! Have just done google search and it says that heartburn can cause this pain, so could just be that. When you say bra strap do you mean round your back or on your shoulder? Epigastric pain can make your right shoulder hurt and its described as feeling like your bra strap pinching you.

Hi keels, put another post up and didn't want o hijack Beantin's. Is not a stabbing pain, is more like an ahce, when I say bra strap I mean all round the top. I think it's probably just baby getting too big. x
