Viable pregnancy but also separate fluid sac above fetus. Anyone else had this?

Had scan today as had tiny amout of brown blood at 7 weeks and was really anxious as to whether everything was ok. Scan showed viable pregnancy & saw heartbeat. Dated me as 8+6, from last period my dates were 9+4. Midwife told me to expect to bleed & they will rescan in 2 weeks & should go on to have a healthy pregnancy. Has anyone else had this & what was the outcome? I'm really scared.

hi babycat, sorry I don't have experience of this, but glad the midwife doesn't think it is worrying.

Maybe you conceived 2 foetuses, but only 1 was viable? Or maybe your body just got confused and made 2 places for your baby to grow. Either way, sounds like your baby is fine and has everything it needs so try not to worry about the other fluid sac, it doesn't sound like it will cause any problems for your pregnancy.

The scan results are very reassurring especially as they have seen a heartbeat. Pregnancies which are likely to miscarriage often never get to the stage where a heartbeat has developed.
The extra fluid could very well represent either :a small pocket of bleeding around the 1st pregnancy sac or second pregnancy sac which may have failed to develop. Do you have any family history of twins or of taking Clomid for infertility treatment?

Thanks MichaelaS & nina99. Was very shocked to find out I was pregnant as male & female fertility issues. DD1 was conceived by ICSI. Had Clomid before ICSI but unsuccessful. I thought perhaps bleeding could be due to cyst as I probably have PCOS but midwife thought not. I feel very lucky but scared that when I bleed won't know if it's just the blood coming away or if I'm miscarrying & don't know if/when it will happen. They said it could have been I second pregnancy sac but I'm not sure if she could have meant from previous month or a twin. Was kicked hard in the pubic area at work before I realised I was pregnant .
