Well the title says it all really. I am 24 weeks and just had a call from the midwife who says my sample shows I have an infection. I had a lot of throat infections and ear infections when I was little and amoxycillin tends not to work very well on me anymore. Anyone any ideas on what is safe to take in pregnancy?

some places give cephalexin this is fine for pregnancy. the sample should say which antibiotics will work for the infection so do ask the midwife to find out (called the sensitivity)

Yes have had cefradine - fine during pregnancy - as I am allergic to amoxycillin and eurythromycin.

I too have been prescribed cephalexin twice in this pregnancy - once for a urine infection and again for chest infection - it seems to work well. Midwives seem happy with me taking it too
