Spotting in early pregnancy

Am i putting this in the right section? Hope somebody can help. I found out I'm pregnant 2 weeks ago and since then have found light brown spotting on two occasions, lasting two days each time. There's no pain other than a slight dull ache (like very light period pain).
I can't date the pregnancy properly as my cycle was non-existent the test said it was 1-2 weeks since conception (does this make me 4-5 weeks pregnant now?).
I'm freaking out. I went to the doctor on the 1st occasion and she said only go to the hospital if there's pain.

I had this with both of my pgs.It could be implantation bleed or cervix thingy.

loz1979 · 11/01/2009 17:46

Ok thanks. Cervix thingy sounds bad though.

no its not its just it softening or something to do with pg hormones. Is this your first pg?

bellavita · 11/01/2009 17:56

I had this with my first pregnancy, it happened twice with old looking blood the first time and then very red blood the second time.

They did an internal scan on both occasions, but everything was fine.

Hospital said to rest up but spotting does happen with some ladies.

I am sure everything will be ok, but don't hesitate to get in touch with your dr asap if there is more cause to worry.

loz1979 · 11/01/2009 17:57

phone up the early pregnancy place tomoro and see if you can get a scan to allay your fears if poss.

With my DS (he's 9) i started bleeding at 6 weeks and had a scan (was staying with inlaws and it was Christmas Eve - bit embarrassing) i saw a tiny blob flashing (it was a heartbeat). I bled again (quite a lot) at 11-15 weeks but yet still he was fine.

This happened in pg2 as well (also a DS).

Apparantly it happens a lot - 25% of pg's i have heard

stillenacht · 11/01/2009 18:03

no probs

loz1979 · 12/01/2009 15:54

It's a little redder today- still not much but I'm scared again. I took the day off work but I can't really say there's any pain. There is a slight tingling feeling though. I'm trying to stay calm and rest up.

hope you are ok - sorry have been at work today

bollockbrain · 12/01/2009 19:51

had it in 2 of my 3 pregnancies, was quite pinky red too at times. Doc said it was around the time my period would have been due and continued on and off until about 10 weeks, so hopefully you will be fine.

harleyd · 12/01/2009 19:53

try not to worry, i had that in my pregnancies too

littleoldme · 12/01/2009 19:57

I had it too, together with all kinds of aches and pains from very early on. Let us know how you get on

Winebeforepearls · 12/01/2009 20:01

loz, do you mind saying where you are? I know that in London you can have an early scan without referral at St George's in Tooting or St Thomas's.

stillenacht · 12/01/2009 22:05

hope you are ok xxxx

stillenacht · 13/01/2009 18:35

hey loz1979 - how are you today?

loz1979 · 15/01/2009 10:21

Thanks to everyone. I'm in the North West.

I began bleeding more with cramps. Had to go to A&E. The gyn looked and said womb was closed - good sign but booked me in for early scan. Had this yesterday and the nurse felt strongly that it's m/c.
Have to go back tomorrow for more blood tests to rule out ectopic.
I'm trying to come to terms with this but the worst thing is a tiny bit of me is hoping the scan was simply to early to spot anything. But sometimes I think you just know these things anyway.
Thanks for support - it's strange that talking to strangers can help so much. I'll write when I know for definite but it doesn't look good.

hi i am about 5-6 wks pg,im 43 5th pregnancy, 3 kids 1 previous mc, i have had brown spotting intermittently for a week, had an early scan on thursday which showed yolk and sac, blood levels had doubled and the scan was as positive as it could be, but showed no heartbeat, cervix closed, they were not concerned and said it was too early, and booked back in two weeks, then earlier today, dashed to loo (not for wee) and passed red blood, very shocked, no clots no cramps, trying to stay positive, but also feeling desperate, wish i knew wht is going to happen, anyone had similar?

LL77 · 06/04/2009 12:16

hello I sm 6-7 weeks pregnant, had brown bleeding on and off for last week, reffered to local hospital - did a scan and found a heartbeat which is good but did an internal exam and although she said cervix looks closed she could see a large amount of brown blood around cervix - i'm in panic mode! Its great there is a heart beat but i can't get the fact that i'm bleeding/spotting out of my mind - its driving me crazy - doctors can't say why i have the bleeding or whether it will lead to miscarriage - any one had the same?? - Thanks

Gillyan · 06/04/2009 14:36

hi, me too. I had bright red spotting from 6wks onwards. It has happened about 10 times now and I'm 26wks now and no problems. I had lots of scans at the early pregnancy assesment unit and everything was fine. I think mine was cervical erosion. I also had period pain and cramps so bad I was convinced my period had started. I had never had antying like this in my first pregnancy so assumed the worse everytime. You can go and be checked as often as you want at the assesment unit up until 14 wks after which they can listen for heartbeat if you have any further bleeds.

Hope you're all okay and things work out
