My last AF started around 9th Dec, cycle been irregular recntly but normally 28 days, so today would be around CD33??. Paid for an internal scan because i felt anxious really.

Nothing there but a 'cyst structure in tube. surprisingly or maybe not i am devastated!

Given several scenarios till repeat scan next week:
was an early pregnancy which has now been lost
Too early since may only be 4 weeks and
'cyst' may be the thing (forgot the name) that produces the pregnancy hormones before placenta takes over.

may have a cyst...what does that mean?

maybe a follicule waiting to erupt[does that mean i should go for it with hubby tonight just in case?

Oh I don't know, feel like my world has temproarily stopped spinning. I know there are many going through much worse but really feel sorry because this last week I was excited after my BFP!

still got BFP resulttoday but could be 'left over hormones' i am told

'Cyst structure in tube'.. - does that mean that it was in a fallopian tube? Or was the 'cyst' in the correct place for a possible viable pregnancy if it continued to develop?

surprisenumber3 · 09/01/2009 12:11

If it were a follicle waiting to erupt or the hormones 'corpus luteum' that keeps the pregnancy in place, I think both of those would be on the ovary.

Was cystic structure in your fallopian tube?

Millie26 · 09/01/2009 12:12

Dont panic yet!!!

This happened to me as my doctor thought I should be further along than I was.

When we ovulate there is often a cyst left called the corpus luteum or something (sorry am just a 'normie' not a nurse!) and that goes after a bit.

It would be too early to see an embryo at this stage, your hcg level needs to be above 1000 I think and that's definitely not the case at 4 weeks.

Is the BFP line still as strong as before? or noticebly fainter? Have you started bleeding?

Did they take blood from you? I was in hospital for three days with suspected ectopic but turned out the mass in my tube was actually the ovualtion cyst, and not in my tube, and at 6wks 2 days they saw a heartbeat and am now 31 wks pg.

Take a deep breath and take every minute/hour/day as it comes. While you are not bleeding there is every chance that you are still pg. If you get sharp pains in your shoulder or bad cramps, go to your doctor or hospital as could be an ectopic.

I've got my fingers crossed for you.

yes in the tube i think. although now thinking he said ovary. what difference would it make.

thanks for the hope millie

her said this is definetly not an ectopic BTW

If it's in the ovary then yes it could well be the corpus luteum as this is present for first few weeks of pregnancy, the hormones hold the pregnancy in place until the placenta takes over.

I'm not sure if in the tube though, I was thinking ectopic but you've obviously had that ruled out.

forevermore · 09/01/2009 12:20

yes 'cyst' in right ovary i remember now

Can I be nosey and ask why you had the scan so early? I just wonder whether it has left you with more worry than you'd have had if you just waited for a couple of more weeks when things would have been alot clearer either way?

timmette · 09/01/2009 12:21

Hi
I am in a slightly similar situation would you consider asking your gp to take blood tests that monitor pregnancy hormones - this is what my gynae is doing as my dates are all confused and it's a bit of a mess.

Millie26 · 09/01/2009 12:22

I think it sounds v promising - they described mine as an 'unidentified cystic mass' and were disconcertibly vague about where it was. Somewhere wound my tube/ovary.

Didnt realise it was specifically related to pregnancy, so that's a good thing!

Please try not to worry. Put your feet up!

surprisenumber3 · 09/01/2009 12:25

that is promising then. It would be too early to see anything in your uterus anyway.

Good luck and try not to worry yet!

wannaBe · 09/01/2009 12:29

your last af was on 9th dec and you are now on cd33?

Have you had a bfp yet?

Not sure of your history but why would you pay for an internal scan so early?

forevermore · 09/01/2009 12:36

yes had 1st BFP 4 days ago! andhad one today too

and yes shewillbeloved you are probably right

Nemoandthefishes · 09/01/2009 12:39

why were you being scanned so early?? Most nhs practices would refuse to scan until at least 6wks as there is nothign that could really be seen.

forevermore · 09/01/2009 12:51

scanned early due to medical histroy - quite complicated and due to anxiety associated with that.

i do wished i had waited now, but hey whats done is done. just notsure if i should get on with life as a non-pregnant women or if its realistic to still have hope.

Millie26 · 09/01/2009 13:51

I'm going with hope.

But not anxious hope, just nice, warm fuzzy hope that in a week or so you will have a much better idea of whether there is a little life in there.

brettgirl2 · 10/01/2009 12:01

I had a scan at 5+4 (GP told them I was 6 weeks because there was some doubt!) and due to positioning they could see enough to confirm viability. I would definitely leave the next one for two weeks, because they will be able to see more then. I was very lucky to get that result so early. I also had a cyst on my ovary - unconnected to pg, just another egg that had not erupted properly. It went by my 20 week scan.

BoltonNikki · 10/01/2009 17:31

I've just had a similar experience.

Got sent for a scan yesterday as having pains in my right side and was worried about an ectopic (especially as I had a delayed miscarraige in Oct)

I am 6 weeks and 5 days. What they found is very confusing and scary...

1 there is a pregnancy sac in the uterus but they couldnot see a baby, has anyone had this at 6/7 weeks but the baby has showed up later?

2 There is something in my fallopian tube which they cannot rule out as being another sac so may also have an ectopic pregnancy

3 the doctor is also worried that the pain is being caused by something else as it comes and goes and has taken loads of swabs/ blood etc

Can anybody help reassure me? I am worried there is no baby as last time there was just an empty sac....

Going back for another scan next Friday..
