I have taken the pessary although it takes about three days to leak out - yuck. I have also slathered myself in the cream too. I'm 17 weeks and have managed to have thrush twice so far!

what did the MW/doctor advise?

you can phone any local pharmacy and ask for advice or phone your MW / GP for the dosage advice

Hi
I had the worst thrush I've ever had at about 16 weeks. I was prescribed the usual, Canesten pessary and cream, and unlike when I'm not pregnant, it worked a treat! Yucky as ever, but it was a great relief. The pregnancy treats just keep on coming, eh? I did lay off the bubble bath afterwards, and have not had a recurrence so far (unusual for me). Good luck!

Lulumama · 08/01/2009 18:24

if it was prescribed in pregnanc,y i am sure it will be fine to use, but am not a doctor, or MW, so i would advise calling your local pharmacy

I've taken two treatments. It's awful, like a waste of my life

justme85 · 09/01/2009 15:01

I had bad thrush for weeks and when I finally found out I was about 28 wks and the hospital gave me a single pessary tablet but told me not to use the applicator and to insert it myself but not to far up as it can set your waters off I think. The exterior cream is fine too, it came back this wk and i called nhs direct who told me as long as I am using it on outer areas it's fine (i'm 35 wks.) Hope this helps. xx

Go to the GP and ask as in my experience the pharmacist will not give you any advice if you're pregnant. Can you have a phone consultation? The GP will most likely say the pessary is ok - that's what my midwife told me.

Its perfectly safe to use. Just put it in using your finger rather than the applicator which can be a bit uncomfortable.
