I've just eaten houmous that's a day past its use-by date. Does it matter?

Slightly worried, but think that's because I'm generally feeling overwrought today.

Anyone know if I should start panicking properly?

I hope not because I finished up a tub that was nearly a week out!

Don't be daft... they set the use by dates on these things really early to avoid anyone ever suing them.... you'd still be fine a week from now. I eat out of date stuff all the time... I can't bear the waste !

I have humours in my fridge that is - just off to look how out of date it is.....

ThornyRose · 08/01/2009 12:30

I always eat out of date humus. It says it must be used within 2 days of opening, I leave mine in the fridge for up to a week after opening it. How are you meant to finish a tub within 2 days that's what I'd like to know

Ivykaty44 · 08/01/2009 12:30

It is last years date and we shall still be eating it. It has been kept in the fridge and is fine - along with the out of date yogurt (how does yogurt actually go out of date?) bit like sour cream that is lurking at the back.

Fillyjonk · 08/01/2009 12:33

no but given that you are, I assume, pregnant, perhaps best not to do it again.

Thanks everyone Yes I am preggers, otherwise I wouldn't be bovvered. Gawd it's such a responsibility looking after a foetus when you've got two germy pre-schoolers, two cats and a fridge harbouring unwholesome houmous.

Ivykaty - you're hardcore
