What does labour feel like??

This is going to sound like a really stupid question as I already have a 5 year old son, but I was induced at 39+ weeks and had an epidural pretty much straight away so I don't know what to expect, apart from the dull continuous backache.

I'm 37+ weeks now and had stomach pains over the weekend which I mistook for the start of labour. After being monitored in the delivery ward it was determined that baby was just laying very awkwardly, though there was a bit of slight brown mucus after the internal examination, though nothing since.

I know every woman is different but I'm just wondering what it feels like and when an odd period pain here or there is more than just a period pain.

To me it felt like I had an upset stomach and stomach was cramping. That was it really, just got stronger from there. Never had any backache.
