I'm pregnant! OMG! So, do I ring dh at work to tell him or should I wait until he gets home?

Got a bfp wth an ebay cheapy this morning

Couldn't believe my eyes so went into town and wasted money on a "proper" test

Unsurprisingly it was positive

I am bursting to tell someone but feel dh ought to be told first (have namechanged for this for his sake)

WWYD?

I'd wait til he gets home. Congratulations, that's wonderful news!

mosschops30 · 07/01/2009 13:55

Yay congrats. Deffo tell your dh first, can you call him at work or go down and meet him for 5 minutes?

Iklboo · 07/01/2009 13:57

Wait till he gets home and give him a card with "you're going to be a daddy" on (make it yourself) or ask if he wants a drink but you can't have one in your condition - see how long it takes for him to twig

CONGRATULATIONS!

(Do let us know who you really are when you've told DH!)

McDreamy · 07/01/2009 14:00

Congratulations! Def wait for him to come home!

backalleysally · 07/01/2009 14:01

Wait until he gets home.

When I found out I was expecting DD I wrapped up the test and gave it him as a 'present' when he got home from work.
The look on his face was a classic!!

samshepp · 07/01/2009 14:03

I couldn't wait and called my hubby then and there...heard him "whooping" down the phon and telling work collegues who continued the "whooping"!! exciting stuff..congrats!!

I always wanted to use the line from Only Fools and Horses, where Raquel is pregnant and Del points at her and says to Rodney, 'How many people do you see standing there? I see two.'

I actually just burst into the living room going, 'Oh my God dh, it's positive, I'm pregnant'. He said, 'Holy F*ck.'

Congratulations!!!!!

My DP suggested I took a test, then didn't answer his bloody phone all afternoon when I tried him at work.

He was rather shocked when he got home, but better that he didn't drive in that state!

Unhinged · 07/01/2009 14:09

lol @ holy fuck

DH's response will be similar I think

The timing could be better, I've just been told my job is under threat.

We weren't actively TTC but weren't being in the slightest bit careful in a "lets see what happens" sort of a way

Awww sazzles that's so lovely [mushy pg hormone emoticon]

DH wouldn't do anything like that

I did walk round town in a daze though and spent a fortune on dd in the sales

Oh my god, I'm up the duff

Congrats! I think I might know who you are

Poledra · 07/01/2009 14:16

Congratulations Unhinged! I'm not sure I'd be able to wait till DH got home, but that's probably the best thing to do.

Word of warning though - I was made redundant while on maternity leave. It's only an issue if you are discriminated against. As more than half of my dept were being made redundant at the same time, it was clear that it was not discriminatory.

MKG · 07/01/2009 14:20

My dh called me during his break at work and said,
"Hi how are you"
"Pregnant, thanks, how are you?",
"How do you know"
"I peed on a stick and it was positive, that usually how you know.
"Oh, OK . . . cool"

Unhinged · 07/01/2009 14:24

JodieO - I think you may have the wrong person, I'm not on any TTC boards or anything and I'm not hugely prolific, just a couple of ongoing type threads.

Poledra (I love David Eddings, am reading Polgara the Sorceress atm ) THere are five of us going for four jobs. I realise that I may still be made redundant but I had an 80% chance of keeping my job anyway so maybe this will help? I dunno.

Congratulations!

We were in the Campo dei Miracoli in Pisa when I found out. Thought it was somewhat apt!

We'd gone for the weekend with some friends and I decided I'd waited long enough for AF so bought a test in my best Italian and then had to wait for ages til I needed to go. After waiting the 5 mins or whatever I pulled it out and DH said - that'll be positive then. I was like this for the rest of the weekend.

DH made me do another test when we got home though cos he didn't trust the "foreign" one 100%

Flier · 07/01/2009 14:36

Many Congrats! But I would wait until he got home from work, I think its soemthing he should be told face to face.

Poledra · 07/01/2009 14:47

Unhinged, DD1 was 4 when I got pg with DC3. We told her at about 14 weeks, which was when we were going to start telling other people about it. I really didn't want her to find out from anyone else. We let her tell both sets of GPs too, as it may her feel involved with it.

Poledra · 07/01/2009 14:47

made, I mean
