Ok, I'm sure this has been many times before and that I am being needlessly paranoid but am 7 weeks pg today and am concerned about the lack of sickness when compared to my first pg. I'm sure by this stage before I was feeling pretty green throughout the day but apart from the odd surge of nausea I have been feeling pretty good.

I've been a bit more tired and need to pee all the time, plus have a lot of CM (sorry - TMI)but apart fom that I just don't feel pg.

I am stressing because I heard that sickness tends to worsen in successive pregnancies. So where's mine????

Anyone out there who had an easier time second time around? If so, I'd love to hear about it!

Hi! To put your mind at rest I had hyperemesis in my first pregnancy, and just mild waves of nausea with dd2. The hyperemesis returned and was worse than first pregnancy with dd1, when pregnant with dd3 and my current pregnancy, so yes there's something in the theory that it gets progrssively worse, but also that each pregnancy is different, as proved by my second pregnancy. Enjoy it while you can!

stillenacht · 07/01/2009 11:21

I didn't feel sick at all with either DS's - supposed to be a girl thing really i thought (altho obv not always) Only very mild nausea for me. My mum was sick as a dog with me and my sisters - if it stays this way i bet you are having a boy!(I am over 80% accurate in my predictions!)

wasabipeanut · 07/01/2009 11:24

Thanks for that - your story Rudie makes me feel much better. My own Mum has also said she was sick when carrying me but not with my younger brother which is interesting.

Stillenacht - my ds gave me rotten sickness! I will be over the moon to have either flavour but will remember your prediction

aha! Perhaps it may t'other way round for you

SpecialOffer · 07/01/2009 11:37

I am 10 weeks with my second pg. I have had pretty much no symptoms and it had worried me. Just some very mild nausea and tiredness!

Probably a boy!! Thats what my family are predicting!

wasabipeanut · 07/01/2009 11:39

Special offer - did you have symptoms the 1st time?

I'm so glad you posted that - have been worrying about exactly the same thing! With DS1 I felt really ill until mid-afternoon and then just exhausted, and my boobs got enormous. I am now almost 9 weeks with no 2 and feeling fine, a bit tired in the evening (but that could just be winter) and boobs a bit fuller (but that could be xmas weight-gain) but nothing much to report on!
I keep thinking i will arrive at my scan to be told there is nothing there...

wasabipeanut · 07/01/2009 11:50

Oh Nixies I feel exactly the same. I have booked an early scan - it'll be money well spent for the peace of mind one way or another. Is there any way you could do the same?

I didn't have any sickness in my first pregnancy, boobs just felt a bit sore. All was fine and I have a lovely 3 and a half yr old. During this one(am now 39 weeks)I seemed to have no symptoms at all until about 12wks, Then started feeling sick, tired, the lot. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it! I'm sure you are absolutely fine. I felt exactly the same at the beginning of this pregnancy, so don't worry.

Hangingbellyofbabylon · 07/01/2009 11:59

I'm fairly symptomless with this third pregnancy - i'm 5/6 weeks I think. With my other two I was heaving daily by this point I think. Just gotta hang in there I guess, I'm putting off going to the docs to ask for a scan as can't stand that internal probe thing they use at this stage.

EBenes · 07/01/2009 12:00

I had very bad sickness both times, but it only kicked in at EIGHT weeks for one of them. You should use actual negative symptoms as a reason to worry, not lack of them! Many women have no sickness in some pregnancies and some in another. Hope your pregnancy is nausea free and happy!

wasabipeanut · 07/01/2009 12:06

I know, I know my voice of reason just keeps telling me to be greatful. I know I will kick myself if on a couple of weeks time I am hurling for Britain.

(I would also be worrying. I love worrying.)

SpecialOffer · 07/01/2009 13:00

I had no sickness last time but nausea all the way up to 13 weeks, where this time the nausea lasted till about 7 weeks then went.

I even spoke to my midwife as I was so worried this time, but she laughed and said it is really normal for some women to have little or no symptoms.

my sis didn't have MS until 12 weeks, and she was gloating that she had missed it on her 3rd pg. She spent the rest of the preg with her head down the toilet.

You don't want to be sick, but it is nice in a way as it is reasurring!

forevermore · 07/01/2009 13:16

i wasn't sick with dd 1 and now i think i am CD35 of a 28 day cycle but symptom less. We decided to ttc last month but have been on holiday so it was mean't to officially start/chart until this month. i hope i have been lucky to miss the ttc stage as i am such a worrier and cannot cope with the 9 months of shear anxiety plus ttc stress as well. I think god only gives those what they can bear (well it seems that way for me anyways).

anyways i tested several times in 48 hours had a BFP 4 times (i know I know). i will now beg/pay for an early scan.......
good luck to us all.

wasabipeanut · 07/01/2009 13:19

Forevermore I did 4 tests in 48 hours too

CatIsSleepy · 07/01/2009 13:20

my sickness started and finished a little later second time round
was from about 6 weeks first time, 8-9 weeks this time

Hawkmoth · 07/01/2009 14:05

I'm the same. 8wks now (2nd time) and just feeling nauseous, worst in the early hours. With 1st I thought I was dying until I looked in my diary. Had probably thrown up my own bodyweight in bile by this point.

I think that this one might be a boy... but who knows!!!

Spoke to MW today about not feeling sick and she didn't seem bothered. Guess each one is different. This is a different father as well so might just be better suited!!!!
