Hi there,
I'm 29 weeks and have had a small amount of bleeding from my gums when I brush for some time, which I know is normal, but for the last couple of days I have noticed that my tongue is bleeding slightly too. It's only bleeding a bit and I think only when I brush. Have noticed it on both sides of tongue and underneath. Has anybody else had this or heard of it? Would really like some reassurance as I'm a born worrier and can't find any mention of it on any pregnancy sites.
Thanks
Yellowbelly

Hiya
Am am 31 weeks and experience similar only sounds like I'm bleeding a lot more. I saw the doctor and dentist. Apparently its no problem generally but I was diagnosed with gingivitis and given cordosyl mouthwash to use after brushing and this has really helped.

Apparently its to do with having lots more blood and also your gums going spongy allows plaque to build up underneath the gum next to the teeth where you can't brush properly, causing gingivitis and lots of blood (my gums were even bleeding when I ate a piece of bread!) 2 weeks with the mouthwash and they've virtually cleared up.

I guess as far as the tongue is concerned its just the amount of extra blood in there and the courseness of your toothbrush. You can buy the mouthwash at the chemist but I would just go and asee your dentist too. HTH!

Thanks for your reply and reassurance. I'll do that, more to check that the tongue thing is o.k really. Cheers
