Can't get my head around this - is there any possibility i am still pregnant??

Went for an early scan today due to brown spotting over the weekend. I think i am 8 weeks pregnant. They did an internal scan and said i looked as though i was about 6 weeks, yolk sac there and something was 19mm - sac? but no fetal pole yet. Made another appointment for 2 weeks for another scan. I broke down and said there is no way i could be 6 weeks. They said everything looks normal for a 6 week pregnancy and was i sure.

My dates are, Last period started on 8th November, Last had sex on 23rd November, First very very aint positive HPT on 4th December, HCG levels of 96 by 9th December.

What do you think? Is there any way the sonogropher could be wrong or that my assumptions about my dates could be wrong.

We have already cried for our dead baby but when we got home and talked about it we just got wondering. Am i just clutching at straws or is there a glimmer of hope??

Apparently beause of the stage i am at they leave it two weeks so that they can be certain they will see a significant change rather that putting me through it again only to say they still dont know. That makes sense and i do understand. From what i have read HCG levels wont be conclusive enough either which is why they don't do that either.

I have done a lot of reading since yesterday afternoon and while it seems that mistakes are possible and there is a glimmer of a hope that all will be ok, it doesnt look good. I think for my own sanity i need to come to terms with that now and if it happens to be good news on the 19th then that will be a wonderful suprise but an unlikely one. I just need to work out how to get through the next two weeks of hell. One day at a time i guess.

Fairywing, my heart goes out to you. what a horrible situation to be in.
Hpwever, I do think you should see if you can get the HGC blood tests - you will get an answer so much more quickly ..... if the HCG levels are doubling every couple of days then the pregnancy s fine. I do not know why you have been advised against this .... it is a very good and clear indicator of pregnancy. Hope this helps xx
