My dates vs Scan dates

Ok, here are the facts:
LMP 19/05/08
+ve Ov sticks 31/05/08 & 01/06/08
BFP 14/06/08
EDD 23/02/09

So, that made me 33 wks yesterday. Went to hospital last night after a little scare (all well now) and in my notes they wrote "self-referred at 32+5 wks" even after they'd asked me how far along I was & I had said 33 wks. Anyway, then doc scanned me & from the various measurements, came out at 34+5 wks... that's nearly 2 wks ahead of what I think I am. Has this happened anyone here before & does it mean that baby is likely to come early if it's so far developed already?

I would agree with your 33 weeks. IIRC, I have heard somewhere that dating with a scan is only accurate within a certain time frame (why dating scans are not done after 12ish weeks) as after this time babies grow at different rates.

I had a similar thing. EDD was set at 23/4/09 from my first scan and correlated with timing of my last period. But when I went for my 20w scan they brought me forward a week to 17/04/09.
They just wrote this in my notes (didn't tell me!) When I asked my midwife about it she said the most accurate is the first scan and LMP as long as you have been keeping good records! So I'm sticking with the later date, also means they're less likely to panic when I go overdue and try to induce me!

I'm not convinced with dating scans either they have put me out by 3 weeks this time!! which i cant get my head around.

I was charting my cycle every month so i am def about lmp dates mine goes like this

lmp 22/06/08
bfp 9/08/08 (was scared to test)
edd according to mw 29/03/09

sent for dating scan at what should have been 11+3 and was told i was 8+3!

edd put back to 18 April 09 so it would mean i got pg on the end of july nearly a month after my lmp???

At 20 week scan put me back another 3 days to 21st April even though they said they couldnt measure baby properly because of position! i cant get my head around it.

At my last antenatal appt they said im measuring nearly 3 weeks ahead!!! so i dont know what to believe.

I think i will have to be ready for this baby a month early just in case! Tis a strange thing conception

'Tis strange alright! Considering all the advanced technology and ability of these scanning machines and all the years of study these doctors had to do, they really haven't a clue, have they?
No offense intended to any docs out there, I'm just having a rant here, as I wish I knew exactly when LO will arrive!!!
