Yes. But some hospitals don't any more I think.

lol me too! Yup they can definitely tell, sometimes the baby is in a position where they can't see though.

lilimama · 05/01/2009 16:04

Norktastic do you mean "me too" you're in the NL?

NorktasticNinja · 05/01/2009 16:06

I did mean that I'm in NL too, it was a bit vague wasn't it!

BlameItOnTheBogey · 05/01/2009 16:07

They can def tell. We found out at our 12 week scan (though were incredibly lucky to do so)...

lilimama · 05/01/2009 16:18

Norktastic, hope you're keeping warm!

Blame It, Wow that is early, was it just good positioning in the moment of scan do you think? Was it a girl or boy? I've heard it's easier to tell early when it's a boy.

OP posts:
BlameItOnTheBogey · 05/01/2009 16:23

He's a boy so i guess that makes it easier. To be fair, the sonographer did say 'I can't be 100% at this stage but if I had to put money on it, I'd say you were having a boy'.

NorktasticNinja · 05/01/2009 16:28

It really is cold isn't it . It's made DP happy though, he can finally ice skate again! Mind you the whole country's in a bit of a tizz about the skating thing aren't they...

How many weeks are you? I'm 18 weeks ATM so DC2 is due in June.

BabyBaby123 · 05/01/2009 16:52

i found out at my 12 week scan too, mine's a girl! i think it depends on the skill of the person doing it. I think 20 weeks is pretty accurate because everything is there by then. I think they are more likely to mistake a boy for a girl than the other way round.

lilimama · 05/01/2009 17:07

ooh sounds good! First time round we didn't want to know but second time I can't wait. Funny that! So Baby Baby, the sonographer could see it was a girl at 12 weeks? Or wasn't sure...

Norktastic, yes re the skating. the other day I was walking in the park in Amsterdam and this guy was skating madly on the ice (he was the only one) and I could see the ice was a bit watering roudn the edges and he was yelling over to me and DS (sleeping in the kinderwagen)saying Come one, you can skate too, with the kinderwagen, come one! I was like, "Not on your nelly mate...Bye Bye". Later I heard that loads of peeps were off to hospital due to accidents on unsafe ice

Anyway, back to the thread. Hopefully I can find out in 10 days then. Am 10.5 weeks now, due very end of July.

lilimama · 05/01/2009 17:18
