Using Earex (the oils one) in Pregnancy - eeek

Having had a cold for 3 weeks which has eventually blocked my ears I went to chemist yesterday and got some Earex - the pharmacist said it would be ok and I have used it twice. Decided to google this morning and apparnetly Camphor Oil should be avoided in pregnancy.

However netdoctors does say there are no known problems with using it in pregnancy.

Does anyone know - I won't continue to use it but am obvious now paranoid I have caused harm. I am 30 weeks pregnant.

Would the fact it has gone in my ear mean it is not really likely to go near the baby. Also it is 'rectified' camphor oil - does this make a difference.

Just bumping this as have also been using Earex the last few days. I'm now partially deaf though and think I need to see the treatment through, but you've got me worried now eek

ooh double bump at same time !! You have my sympathies - I am currently very hard of hearing.

Sorry to cause you worry too - having talked to DH about it we think that the fact its one ingredient and its in your ear it would be ok - its not as if you are ingesting neat camphor oil.

Also, in this day and age, if it was likely to pose any risk I would have thought it would be on the packaging - and it isn't.

But would be interested to hear what others had to say on the matter.

It's difficult not to worry though isn't it Wheelybug, I get very paranoid. I wish I'd never bought the dam stuff now (it was between that and Otex or whatever its called and I felt Earex was safer )

I've been putting off sorting my ear out for months and now I've started with this stuff it's alot worse (I can barely hear a thing and feel like I've got my fingers in my ears!! Makes it easy to ignore dp though )

I hope someone comes along soon with some reasurance otherwise it looks loke I'm stuck this way untill the baby arrives
